The Ten Spot: Things I Loved, Bought or Bookmarked

Sep 16, 2026

I started hormone therapy in the spring, and the improvement to my daily headaches has been night and day, but there seems to be no cure for the week after my period when I feel like I am crawling through life, agitated and exhausted. Perimenopause is not for the weak, and this is the pre-show. The big show isn’t even here yet. This is the first time in my life where I have ever thought I might want to try being a man for a while, you know, just to see.

But I digress…

As I continue to crawl through my week like a sloth on a mission, let’s talk about a few things that I’ve loved, bought or bookmarked. Because I only have a one hour lunch break and I need to use 30-minutes of it for my daughter’s laundry.

One. My favorite t-shirt is $90 (I know, I know), but you can now buy two for $145. Five stars.

Two. I am obsessed with this top from Staud. Can I pull it off? Unclear. Is it worth the price tag? Unsure. But, lord, do I love looking at it.

Three. Cleanse your timeline, watch a video of a puppy getting its first bath.

Four. The best school drop off pants ever made.

Five. My youth was filled with trauma around being the student with bad handwriting. The tears I cried over this as teachers forced different writing instruments and gadgets, sure I would fail in life with such illegible penmanship. As such, I have never been able to use a paper calendar and notebook with any consistency because I hate the look of my own handwriting. But I’ve been practicing my writing and decided to take the leap and buy this customizable journal. Wish me luck.

Six. Has anyone with a real life and real job tried satin pants yet (like these ones from Reformation, which are everywhere)? Asking for a friend.

Seven. How to do a fall closet clean-out in 30-minutes per day.

Eight. New shampoo/conditioner led to dry hair and a massive breakout on my chest. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve had body acne, and it was a bit demoralizing to be dealing with it again. But Tower28 is slowly curing the problem without over-drying my skin.

Nine. Varley has managed to make cardigan twin sets modern — this one is stunning, and somehow, relaxed.

Ten. My Christmas tree mantle is going to be killer.

A senior consultant I work with wore satin pants to a client meeting this week. They were full length, not cropped. She wore them with a very structured brocade -like blazer. I thought she looked great.

Looking forward to hearing back on #6. And, like, some sub-$250 options, please!
I did see an influencer try the Ref pants on and said they were bad quality and fit though.

Belle, you can totally pull off that Staud top. Do it!

    Satin pants? I cannot.

Happy halfway through the week day.

I did satin-esque green pants around the holidays and LOVED them. Paired with a black cut out top to go to a holiday party. Will pair with a simple tee and flats, heels and a decorative sweater … I was bummed the petite wasn’t available in other colors.

I work remotely but would i wear them to work? Idk. They feel like luxe pajamas and that might make me feel weird around coworkers.

I saw a woman wearing green satin pants in real life the other day and she looked great. Fresh, chic, and the green was a good change.

This is so fun! Thanks so much for sharing my closet cleanout story, I hope it helps! xo

At least for me Perimenopause was so much worse than menopause. Not having to deal with a monthly cycle is the best thing ever.

I feel bad for the moms now with school drop off being like a fashion show. Jeez we pretty much threw on jeans and a sweatshirt. Nobody cared what anyone else was wearing.

I have terrible handwriting. It was actually ok at one time growing up in the 70s Catholic school era where nuns made sure you had good penmanship. It’s nice to read that a female I really respect struggles too.

I want that Varley twin set!

I randomly bought a pair of full-length wide leg satin pants in a muted rust color while traveling due to a luggage snafu and I’ve found them surprisingly versatile.
My office is on the casual side of business casual, but I wore the pants with a structured white button-down and gold jewelry and felt very put together.
I’ve also worn them casually with a tank and a colorful silk kimono-style wrap. It’s a touch “artsy grandma” but it works.
I’m planning to experiment wearing them with fuzzy sweaters this winter for some texture contrast.

Abra – you have noted that you were on a GLP-1. Same. MANY months behind you, but 20lbs down. Do you have recommendations on pants/dresses/other items to have for this journey? My pants that used to be great when the bagged out after 15 mins of wear now look like diapers really quickly. I WFH and only have to do “real” clothes in frequently, yet then had 4 days this week of “downtown” outfits and really had to scramble. Would love your advice here!
