The Range: Stripes for Summer

Jul 8, 2024

The holiday week was so much fun. My nephews (3 and 5) love spending time with “Baby Cousin Sloane.” They ran in the sprinklers, ate watermelon, went exploring, and watched fireworks. The dogs also got to roam free in Montana, so everyone had good time. But I’m a little worn out, so let’s do something fun for the morning post this week!

For the next five days, every post will feature an outfit where every piece comes from the same retailer.  The focus will be on pieces that can be staples in the summer and in the fall — starting with a neutral striped look for a business casual office.

Do not sleep on Chico’s for jewelry.  Yes, that Chico’s.  The quality is J.Crew comparable.  Some pieces are Eccentric Gramma from New Mexico, but they also have lots of fabulous pieces like these Mixed Metal Hoops.  Want to do the Buy One Get One 50% Off deal?    I also found these modern square shaped hoops in gold or silver, which promise not to droop when you wear them.

I posted this no-iron Olive Striped shirt a few weeks ago, and I still love it.  I ordered it and the 3/4 sleeve gives it a perfectly relaxed look.  Size run 4-18.

I was skeptical that a wide leg cropped style would be wearable, until I bought one.  It’s a little dressier than a white jean, but still relaxed.  This Brigitte Wide Leg Pant comes in petite, tall and regular inseams.  Sizes run 0 to 18.

SThese simple tan slides are a great price — under-$30 — and the padded footbed is nice if you wind up walking further than anticipated.

Is this how Chico’s starts? Creeps into your life slowly with a cute no iron shirt?

Haha. Right on! I love the no droop earring idea. I’ve had to return earrings bought on Amazon. They were brass and just too heavy.

I’ve followed Belle since the early 2010s. We were young & in DC once, and now… Chico’s.

On a serious note I popped in recently and did like some of their stuff…

I think so. I wore a bunch of their gauze dresses when I was pregnant, because shapeless Chico’s was better than most of the maternity wear I found. But I have to admit, they’re still making white pants with liners, and that’s god’s work.

My town has limited options for in person shopping, and I needed jeans while also not wanting to have to deal with return shipping. Chico’s had tons of options with different fits and fabrics. I found a super comfortable pair of wide legged cropped jeans that I wasn’t sure I would wear much but thought they were fun. They are my favorite pants!

I also found a t shirt there. Thick and substantial, nice fit, and quality fabric.

Lots of stuff I’d never buy there, but also some surprising options.

Not going to lie, at 43 with my first just having gotten married, eccentric grandma is honest to god my goal……and I have no shame about it.

Hear me out…JJill is also a solid place to find some great pieces. Similar to Chico’s, but maybe more coastal grandmother than eccentric aunt. I have found some consistently fantastic items there in my 20’s and 30’s.
