Five for Fall: Cool Boots for Cold Weather

Oct 6, 2022

It’s boot season.  And since most of us probably haven’t purchased new shoes in a while (almost never leaving the house due to a pandemic and what not), it might be time for a new pair.  Here are a few that caught my eye.

This Sam Edelman Uma Boot is perfect for work.  I wear a similar pair of boots all winter with dark black tights and skirts/dresses.  The shorter heel keeps them comfortable enough for daily wear.  If you need a wide width, try these Naturalizer boots in a similar style.

These Loeffler Randall Gia Boots are the definition of splurge-worthy, and they are selling out everywhere.  I love the shorter, block heel style for comfort.  I also like the cognac color.  Buy them for yourself, for Christmas, now.

These Marc Fisher boots are the perfect, versatile ankle boot.  Without buckles, snaps, or other accents, you can dress them up or down for any occasion.  In fact, Marc Fisher makes the most wearable, sleek, simple boots on the market.  They’re also all on sale right now, so if you have boot needs, scroll through.

These Cole Haan Chelsea Boots are a reader recommendation.  The recommender proclaimed them the most comfortable shoe she had ever owned, and due to their waterproof construction, the best for winter.  She apparently wore them all over London during a rainy, winter trip and never had so much as a sore toe or blister.

A stylist recommended these Stuart Weitzman Sock Booties a few years ago, and I was skeptical at first.  But once I saw them on with black tights, I was amazed by how versatile they are.  When you wear them with tights, they look just like a continuation of the tights, so your legs look impossibly long.  Need a less expensive pair?  Try this one from Nordstrom Rack.

I second the Cole Haan chelsea boots! I bought them, and convinced my mom to buy them as well. They are comfortable from the start, and the waterproofing is no joke.

Thirded! I have a 5 year old pair of Cole Haan chelsea style boots (but in a grey suede) and they’re still my most comfortable/most worn boots

I’m curious about the pointy toed boots — how do people keep them from getting scuffed? I love the look of a pointy toed boot, but mine all end up looking so beat after a few wears when the point gets scuffed. (I’m hoping there is some easy solution that I just never learned about!)

Could you please do a post on how to style knee-high boots in 2022 (esp boots like the Loeffler Randall ones)? I have a pair collecting dust in my closet because I just don’t know how to wear them anymore–I bought them during the age of blanket scarves and bubble necklaces, but they were pricey and still in great condition! Thanks!
