Five for Fall: Coats You Need

Oct 5, 2022

I love a good coat. It’s my favorite thing about fall. Kyle gets upset because I prefer to eat outside in early October so I can wear my coat.  After all, it completes the outfit.  Here are five that caught my eye.

I own Banana Republic’s Essential Trench, and it’s the best. They made it in a water-resistant fabric for those of us in wetter climes.  Also in tan.  Petite sizes available, XXS to XL.

If you think you cannot pull off a leather jacket, this Andrew Marc leather jacket with fabric panels is for you.  It comes in cement (shown), saddle brown and black.  It’s also half-off right now.  And the knit panels means it will always fit beautifully.

Growing up in Montana, my parents were messianic in their belief that coats should be warm.  So a not-warm-enough for Montana dress coat is what I call a fashion coat.  You won’t be cold, you won’t be warm, but you will look chic.

Mango is the best place for fashion coats.  This wool double breasted coat, also in black and camel, is a great example.  Many of their coats, including this one, size up to 4X.

These fleece “Sherpa”* jackets are a great choice for weekend wear.  This one from Velvet looks super cozy.  Anthropologie has a great selection of these coats, including this cool moto-jacket style.

When the 90s came back, so did plaid.  But I thought this Avec Les Filles coat was too good not to share.  I’d wear the whole outfit right now, no questions asked.

Yes, I know this is technically six coats, but I don’t care.  This Amazon Essentials puffer is the warmest coat I own. Full stop. Do you know how many coats I have owned, as a Montanan who will pay anything for warmth, that promised they were warm and didn’t deliver?  I have coats that cost more than my first car that are not as warm as this coat.  Seriously, buy this coat.

It comes in 11 colors.  I own black, white and now olive.  It runs up to 6X in size.  No, for real, buy this coat.

I always know I can trust your coat & jacket recommendations. I now own that Amazon puffer in white and black. I also previously bought a BB Dakota faux leather jacket (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/BB-Dakota-Steve-Madden-X-Small/dp/B0924TJ7ZY/ref=sr_1_22?crid=89BB179XIGFG&keywords=bb+dakota+leather+jacket&qid=1665068416&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI2LjM1IiwicXNhIjoiNS4yMyIsInFzcCI6IjIuODUifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=bb+dakota+leather+jacket%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-22) and it’s one of my favorites even though I didn’t think I could pull off the leather look.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]
