Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women. // Maya Angelou

One Interesting Thing. Italian children will now be given two surnames –mom’s and dad’s–by default. On the topic of first names, meet the women naming their daughters after themselves. Hmmm…AbraLeigh Noelle Junior has a nice ring to it.

My 10yo daughter and I share a first name! I didn’t know this was a ‘thing’, but I’ve always liked my name and it seemed a good plan to give someone I love a chance to enjoy it, too.
Congratulations on the NYT mention— that’s exciting! You sounded spot-on.
The no office housework article talks about a new book by Stacey Vanek Smith, Machiavelli For Women. It it is one of the best career advice books I have ever read, and certainly the one with the most specific, actionable advice. I wish it was around when I was a junior attorney. There are very few books I would recommend to female professionals, but this is absolutely one of them.
Wow love the name news from Italy that’s very cool!
Loved seeing you in the NYT article! I completely agree with you here, “When I go to Bloomingdale’s website and click on the dresses-for-work tab,” she added, “the first five are sundresses, and it’s like, ‘Where do you guys work?’”!
I feel like that with what my friends and I call the return of “The Little House on the Prairie” dresses, which is ironic, because we actually live in Nebraska!
