The Find: A Spring Dress for Work or Play

Mar 22, 2022

Even though it snowed yesterday, it is technically spring.  So let’s talk about dresses,  Specifically, a dress that can be worn to work or for play.

How pretty would this floral-printed Nanette Lepore dress be with a light blue cardigan?  The pleated style, the mockneck  and the flirty styling are all fabulous.

Concerned that the mockneck would over-enhance or constrict the bust?  They offer a similar print in a shirtdress style, so it will be more flattering.

NANETTE Nanette Lepore is an affordable diffusion line, so don’t miss out on some of their other great styles.  I also like this swingy, pleated dress in red or black (which would also work as a maternity dress thanks to the loose style).  Or if you like the dress above, but you’re not into prints, they also offer it in aqua.

Sizing for this brand runs size 2-14, and the reviews on other dresses say either true to size or just slightly big.  So I would order my usual size.

Very pretty! I love a high neck, I find them so much more flattering on me than deep necklines or v-necks (I’m very pear-shaped, although not sure if all pear-shaped women feel that way). I also love the pleats, which give it some wiggle room for going up or down in weight.

I was such a fan of Nannette Lepore in the early 2000’s and still own a couple of pieces I can’t part with. I stumbled across this article i lockdown and found it very interesting.

I first learned about Nanette Lepore from your blog a million years ago. My all-time favorite blazer from my DC days was Nanette Lepore — haven’t seen her stuff lately, so I will be checking these out!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
