The Find: Drape Trench Coats for Spring

Mar 22, 2021

When I was working in Montana in 2019, it was bitter cold straight through til the end of April.  So this time, I didn’t pack any spring clothes.  And the only coats I packed were for winter.  It was a miscalculation.

I thought about buying a classic tan trench coat — like this Banana Republic basic or this London Fog trench with a hood —  but I already have one back in WA.  So I decided to add a different style and color to my wardrobe.

This Rachel Roy trench has a relaxed, drape style.  The bows at the wrists are a nice detail.  And I like the slouchy cut for a more modern look.

I chose this dark green hue instead of the tan.  The coat also comes in white, mauve, and a lovely pale purple.  Looking for something neutral?

This H&M trench comes in dark cream and tan.  It has a modern, relaxed drape. The details make it a very stylish trench.  It also has a textured material that hangs well.  And don’t sleep on the affordable $80 price.

Everlane also has a stylish drape trench that comes in black, tan, and a lovely misty-green.  This grey Donna Karan trench caught my eye as well.

Plus-size?  Try this basic Halogen hooded trench or this drape trench from Threadbare.

Can you check the link for the H&M trench? It’s taking me to the Donna Karen one. Thanks!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
