WFH Items: A Wrap Maxi Dress

Apr 13, 2020

This weekend, I decided to turn off the television and put away my computer.  Kyle and I spent the weekend doing yard work and installing some closet organizers we ordered before this all began.  It was cathartic to fill the time with something productive.  And it got me thinking about what would help me get through these difficult months.

The thing that I need most, certainty, I can’t have, and that’s difficult.  But I can have comfort, both emotional and physical.  I can have routine.  I can have outlets to occupy my time.  And I can have those things in a way that helps me maintain my sense of self.

So it should not surprise anyone that when a fashion blogger thinks about comfort and identity, she thinks about what she’s wearing.  And I wanted a dress, something that was both very comfortable and felt like me.

Maxi wrap dresses are one of my favorite looks.  They might look fancy, but you push up the sleeves, add a great sandal, and a simple necklace and you have a chic, casual outfit.  And when you need a cozy work-from-home look, add a simple cardigan.

This Modcloth maxi wrap dress comes in both green and black, and runs <$75.  It runs from XS to 4X.

While I’ll be dressing it down for working in my home office, you can also dress it up for a wedding or family event.  I would wear it with these beige sandals, these wood bangles, and a richly pigmented lipstick.

I also like this short-sleeve red, floral maxi and this flutter-sleeve maxi dress.  Petite?  Try this short-sleeve maxi dress.

Care to share what type of closet organizers you purchased? Looking into taking on a similar project soon.

Hi there – just a heads up, the Nordstrom Rack links are taking me to their homepage, not to the pretty dresses. 🙁

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
