Happy Hour: The Tropics in Winter

Mar 8, 2019

Have a bridal or baby shower coming up?  Need a fun cocktail for a birthday party?  Just want an excuse to get your girlfriends together for an easy Friday night cocktail?  Here is the libation that is perfect for all of those events and more.

Hibiscus Mimosas are the easiest drink on the planet.  Just ask Lively Table.  All you need is the champagne you prefer and a jar of hibiscus flowers in syrup.

The flowers sweeten up even the cheapest sparkling wine, and add a festive look to the drink.  They also freshen up the flavor with a hint of tropical sweetness.  The first time I had this cocktail (in an Italian restaurant in Anaconda, MT), I was instantly smitten with the pretty and tasty drink.  Now, it’s my go-to from brunch parties.

Want some gorgeous glasses to serve it in?  Anthropologie always has the best champagne flutes.

This affordable WAYF Rhoda Faux-Wrap Dress is perfect for bridal and baby showers.  It’s pretty, but relaxed.  Dressy, but with a sandal and bangles, still approachable.  I bought it to wear to my nephew’s baptism this weekend.  It’s a great graduation, family occasion, church dress.  Plus, it’s under $150.

I have that Wayf dress in another color and you’re right, it would be really good for a bridal or baby shower.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
