Rye whiskey is not a spirit that I drink often. It’s a whiskey made from a wheat-like grain that has a fruity or spicy flavor. So what kind of cocktail do you make with such a spirit?
This cocktail is the Whiskey Rose. It had grapefruit juice, grapefruit soda, and honey infused with the flavor of thyme. It’s a wonderful mix of fruit, spice, and herbal notes.
I love this cocktail because it has a hint of sweetness without being too sweet. If you don’t enjoy the flavor of thyme, or you want a little more sweetness, add grenadine instead.
The Whiskey Rose is a great cocktail for the early fall because it has a warmth to it, but the grapefruit gives it a refreshing lightness.
Do you wear the color mustard? It’s a color that I always thought I would hate, until I tried. It’s a nice alternative to the jewel-tones that I usually wear, and it has a little bit of warmth to it.
Thus Muriel Volume Sleeve Sweater is a great option, with a balloon sleeve that makes it a little interesting. I also like this over-sized mustard cardigan from Zulily. For something lovely for work (and affordable), try this fluted-sleeve open cardigan from Shein.
Plus-size? Try this Charlotte Russe v-neck or this long cardigan from Zulily. Petite? Love this Topshop sweater. Tall? Try this ribbed sweater from ASOS.

have you ever ordered from shein? i’ve been seeing ads for them a lot lately, and just feel like it must be too good to be true. would love to hear your experience.
I have two dresses from there. Both are nice, sizing is tough though. You need to size up at least one maybe two sizes, but the quality has been pretty good (H&M or better-esque).
thank you!!
rye is a great basic spirit, a classic choice for a manhattan or an old-fashioned. i also love it in sours. it’s my home bar default over bourbon, because it makes slightly less sweet drinks.
I’m not much for whiskey, but 10/10 on the pun-reminiscent title of this post.
Thanks! I was wondering if it was a little too subtle.
Made the cocktail and loved it! Premaking the rosemary honey was amazing and totally worth it. Thanks, Belle! I mean…Abra :).
