The Five Best Black Friday Sales

Nov 23, 2017

Since the ’08 recession, America has gone sale crazy.  The traditional Black Friday sales are now starting the weekend before and lasting for days after.  Sales on clothes, toys, electronics, makeup, home goods–there are just so many sales.

Too many, really.  And a lot of them aren’t worth a darn. (Why do you think I want to save 20% on goods that have been collecting cobwebs in your clearance section for months?)  So this year, I decided to choose only a handful of the best sales.

Sephora // Up to 50% off 400+ items from brands like Bite, Clarisonic, Tarte and more .

Discounted skincare and makeup always excites me.  What do I want to try?  What tools do I need?  Who needs a gift?  The Sephora sale is always one of my favorites.

Abra’s Picks // Foreo Luna Mini ($74) // Bobbi Brown Highlighting Trio ($52) // GlamGlow Sonic Gravity Mud Mask ($14)

Sole Society // Up to 50% off select shoes, accessories, bags and clothing.

This sale, whoa.  I was trying to choose my picks and ended up wanting to choose (almost) everything.  The one hang up is that many of the shoe styles are only available in a handful of sizes, but there are a lot of great bags and accessories.

Abra’s Picks // Alani Vegan Leather Hobo ($42) // Acacia Gore Ankle Boot ($62) // Inverted Stone Hoops ($32)

Net-a-Porter // Up to 50% off gorgeous designer pieces.

In my dreams, I can afford to by all of my clothes at Net-a-Porter.  In reality, I can buy one (maybe two) of their incredible pieces on discount.  I still have both of the Burberry dresses I scored in 2012 for half price.

But beware, the Net-a-Porter sale is an easter egg hunt.  You need time, you need stamina, and you need a strong Internet connection.  And if you find something you can’t live without, snap it up quick!

Abra’s Picks // MK Ruffled Sleeve Sweaterdress ($193) // Foil Striped Notebooks ($25) // Equipment Signature Print Shirt ($135)

Shopbop // Progressive sale — 20% off $200, 25% off $500, $30% off $800. Code MORE17.

The Shopbop sale is always a fun time because you can go big with designer brands or find great pieces for under-$100.  It took me over an hour to pick through the sale and find a few great things.  So when you’re on the couch recovering from too much turkey and stuffing, make sure to start in the shoe section.

Abra’s Picks // (my favorite) Olive AG Jeans ($178) // Theory Edition Suit Blazer ($425) // Native Gem Rocco Tassel Earrings ($115)

ASOS // 30% off everything with code EPIC30.

ASOS is the most under appreciated retailer.  They have petite, they have plus, they have maternity.  You can shop high, you can shop low.  You can have classic style or avant garde taste.  If you can’t find something to buy at ASOS, you aren’t looking hard enough.

Abra’s Picks // Finders Solar Cut Halter Dress ($193) // Warehouse Roll Neck Sweater ($82) // Origami Detail Blouse ($51)

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
