My skincare is a mix of high and low. Yes, I love a good Ole Henriksen serum or a Dr. Jart mask, but if you tell me that something from Walgreen’s or Target is the answer, I’ll speed right on over. Here are six products under-$25 that I am loving.
1. Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub ($9) // 2. Make P:rem In-Shower Face Pack ($24) // 3. Gold Powder Eye Mask ($8 for 10) //4. Nooni Deep Cleansing Jelly ($23) // 5. The Alpha Arbutin Serum ($9) // 6. Bare Republic Mineral Lip Balm ($4)
One. This Biore Scrub Cleanser is one of my favorite recent finds. The pores on my nose are constantly clogged, especially in the creases of my nose. I’ve only found one nose strip that works, but it’s a 3-step process and a bit time consuming, which is not great for multiple uses per week.
This cleansing scrub was easy to bring into my routine. I think it would be too harsh for me to use every day, but using it a few times per week has worked well. Sometimes, if my skin is feeling gross after being in makeup for 20 hours, I’ll double cleanse with this and number four (see below).
Two. Is the dry winter air killing your skin? Then, give this Shower Face Pack a look. You apply it in shower, and the heat from the shower activates it. It has Squalane (beauty’s current buzzy ingredient) and Argan oil among other hydrators.
This mask gives my skin a boost without over-hydrating and making it oily or shiny. I use it if I didn’t get much sleep the night before (which is basically every night these days).
Three. I have been obsessed with gold and collagen face masks since I tried this one five (?) years ago. I don’t know if it actually has gold in it, and I don’t care. It is loaded with collagen and really minimizes the look of the fine lines that get worse thanks to winter dryness. So when I saw that they made eye masks that I could use on the regular, I was all in.
Four. This Nooni Jelly Cleanser bridges the gap between hydrating and cleansing. It’s also incredible at removing mascara residue. I carry it when I travel because a little dab goes a long way, and it eases tired skin. Plus, it gives my skin a nice glow.
Five. I have some dark spots on my cheeks and chin. This discoloration requires concealer even after the breakouts that cause it have healed, which is a real bummer. The Ordinary’s Alpha Arbutin serum treats the brown spots beautifully. It heals a new or forming spot in days, and an old spot in weeks. It may be the best $9 I have ever spent.
Six. I’m trying to wean myself off of petroleum-based makeup products. My favorite Blistex lip balm is more than half petrolatum, so I needed to find a replacement. This Bare Republic balm is my new favorite. It is deeply moisturizing, offers 30 SPF, and the mojito flavor smells amazing.

As always you have the best and most thorough recommendations! Where is the Olay 🙂
While you’re at it, what is the one nose strip you like? I have had very little luck with those that I’ve tried.
It’s made by TonyMoly, it is strawberry themed and three steps. I like it, but it takes a legit 45 minutes from start to finish.
A couple questions: could you share more of your thoughts on ditching petroleum? Is it a skin issue or a sustainability one, or both?
And do you know of any product that helps with broken facial capillaries? I’ve got one on my cheek that makes me feel self conscious without makeup even when everything else skin-wise is going well.
The only real “solution” for broken capillaries is a laser to zap them. Then they’re GONE. To cover them up? I like Clinique Redness Solutions foundation–covers the redness really well but doesn’t feel like a mask.
I don’t suffer from that issue, so I’ve never looked into curing capillaries.
I gave up petrolatum because I’m concerned about more carcinogens.
Love the idea of a mask for the shower! Nice way to extend the delicious warmth of the hot water during these cold months.

I love the idea of the jelly cleanser! Is it applied with a cotton ball, or just with your fingers? I added it to my cart but realize I’m all out of cotton balls…
I’ve just been using my fingers.
Does the Ordinary product help with other types of pigmentation? I’m desperate for something I can use on some stretch marks, and I’ve resorted to trying skin products for the face.
