Ladies,
I’m joining MM. LaFleur and She Should Run for an event discussing women, fashion, and politics. She Should Run is a non-partisan organization that helps women get elected to political office. Find out more details about the event and sign up to join us (the ticket price is $20, of all which goes to She Should Run).
Hope to see you there! aB
Lawyer? Did you get a job Belle?!
I got a job-ish. I decided to volunteer for the summer through the Bar Association to keep my skills fresh. A friend is talking about running for Congress, and I want to see what his plans are (since running his campaign could be cool) before I start looking for full-time legal work here or elsewhere. But yes, I will be seeing some courtroom time this summer. Kind of excited about it.
I want to come so badly, but am out of country for a work trip on that date. I had to comment to let you know I love the idea of this event and the fact that you are participating! As a 5+ year reader, I would LOVE to have met you! I credit you with fostering my adult-onset feminism. Kudos!
Adult-onset feminism…love it.
Classic.
So pumped! I’ll be there. Also, take a minute to read that is says lawyer next to your name. It took a while for the coolness of that to wear off for me when I would be introduced as an attorney, so I hope you are still enjoying it!
I thought that too about the lawyer designation. It has to be neat to see other people or orgs acknowledging it.
Yeah, someone at court called me counselor, and I was like, “Whoa, counselor…”
Oh man! I’ll be in DC a day earlier to be sworn in at the Supreme Court and I would have LOVED to attend. Ya’ll have fun!
I’m looking to do that myself. How hard was the paperwork? I’ve heard conflicting reports.
You’ll need to be licensed in a state for 5 years first, then you fill out a form, pay 200$, and get two members of the SCOTUS bar to sign off. Super simple.
Got it. Thanks!
If I were local to you, I’d offer to sign your form! It’s a special, fun event. My best friend’s mother is a member of the SCOTUS bar, and she was able to make the motion in court to admit her daughter (my law school dean made the motion for the rest of us). Totally unforgettable!
I’d love to go, but I’m on a biz trip until later in the week. Do another one of these soon! : )
Wow, the event is already sold out! I’m on the wait list and hoping someone drops out so I can go 🙂
I may try to do a meet-up or something in D.C.. I’m working on it.
