Discuss: A Bagpiper Update and Giveaway Winners

Jun 21, 2013

A few months ago, I wrote about my neighbors, The Bagpipers, and their very vocal nocturnal activities.  Since then, some of you have inquired via e-mail and Twitter about the current state of affairs in The Land of No Nod Before Midnight, so I thought I would provide a little update.

Last night, I was on the phone with my Brother, when 10:50PM rolled around.  What followed was a Hallelujah Chorus of moans punctuated by the rhythmic thumping of a badly abused headboard.  I cursed myself for not vacating the living room at 10:30PM like I usually do.

Bro: Where are you?

Belle: At home.

Bro: What’s that noise?  Are you watching TV?

Belle: No, it’s The Bagpipers next door.  This is their regular performance time.

Bro: Are they always that loud?

Belle: No, only when she participates.  (Gathers up laptop and moves into the other room.)

-End Scene-

But this morning, I was leaving my apartment and what to my wondering eyes did appear, but moving boxes stacked both far and near.  That’s right, ladies, silence is mine!  It’s like God bought me a belated birthday present.

Now, to get down to business with this giveaway…

I’ve been a bit preoccupied the last few weeks, and in my mental fog, I forgot to choose a winner for the ‘Revenge Wears Prada’ giveaway. But I loved the book (finished reading it in about five or six hours), and I can’t wait until a few of my friends finish it so I can finally talk to someone about it.  So let’s give these books away!

There were 256 comments and the winners were:

Number 27, who is Blair on June 11 at 12:34PM.  The ‘job a million girls’ including her would kill for is: POTUS

27

Number 111, who is Samantha on June 11 at 2:29PM, and her top job is personal stylist.

111

Thank you to everyone who entered, your suggestions for murder-worthy employment opportunities were really great.  I think my favorite was nail polish tester.  Look for more giveaways in the future!

I’ve totally been there, though never with “bag-pipe” sounds. I did have a neighbor who thought it was cool drum on a wooden drum at 3 am though. That was a pretty rough couple months. Hopefully your new neighbors will be better!

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
