Belle's Weekly Favorites–July 30, 2012

Jul 30, 2012

1. Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette ($60) // 2. Ted Rossi Lizard Pyramid Ring ($122) // 3. Emma and A Tale of Two Cities Book Clutches (Kate Spade, $325) // 4. West Elm Gold Flatware ($29) //  5.  B-Low Prairie Belt ($208) // 6. Reiss Bidston Wool Pencil ($180) and All Saints Paradise Skirt ($150)

One. This eye palette from Bobbi Brown is loaded with neutral shimmer.  It’s perfect for the transition from tanned summer skin to the warm tones of autumn.  I love mixing these colors to create a lightly-smoked eye that isn’t too much for daytime events.  If you’re looking for a neutral palette in a lower price point, Pixi has an 18-color set for $24.

Two.  We all know that I love a bold ring, and this ring is bold with a capital “B”.  The deep teal faux-lizard with the shining gold pyramid makes a statement with a hint of rocker-chic.  I’d wear it on the pointer or middle finger for maximum impact.  If teal isn’t your thing, Max & Chloe also has a simple pyramid ring for $38.

Three.  I love these whimsical book clutches from Kate Spade bearing the names of some of history’s best-loved novels.  At over-$300, they’re out of reach for most of us.  So take a look at this simple canvas book clutch on Asos ($42), or head over to Etsy to go searching for your favorite novel.

Four.  A few weeks ago, I went to a dinner party where the hostess used this flatware.  It is so delightfully chic.  The matte finish keeps it from being gaudy, and it looked so lovely next to the navy and white dishes she was using.  A very regal look, to be sure.  If you like the gold, but only want a hint of it, this 165-pc flatware set should suit your taste.

Five.  I wear a lot of basic sheath and silk dresses in the fall, and I’m always looking for ways to accessorize them so that they’re not boring.  One of my favorite ways to lift a basic dress is with a sassy belt.  I own studded belts, jeweled belts, brightly colored belts and I’d love to add this woven belt to my collection.

If you’re looking for cool belts at wallet-friendly prices, I recommend Bluefly.  They have dozens of styles and colors at better-than-retail prices.

Six.  These skirts are my top picks for daytime and nighttime wear.  The Reiss skirt is perfect for a sleek work look.  It’s fitted, so try it with a loose-fitting silk blouse.  The contrast between the two fits is sexy but also ladylike.

As for the second skirt, it’s by AllSaints, and I am positively smitten with the metallic feather print.  This miniskirt would be lovely with a silk tank and platforms for a night on the town.  You could also dress it down with a t-shirt, black blazer and black boots.

I am late to the Bobbi Brown party but now I cannot get enough of her products. I like the colors in that eye palette- they would be perfect for my baby-browns!

I had been lusting after the Kate Spade book clutches ever since they came out….finally, I went for it, and just ordered Emma as my “tax refund” splurge. I figure I'll just add it to my home decor (piles of books in certain places) when I'm not using it!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
