After Christmas Sales Abound

Dec 26, 2024

There are so many post-holiday sales hitting today. Your e-mail, your social media, your notifications, they will all be aflame. Not every sale is worth shopping, and not every thing is worth buying. Once again, I am keeping this post light and limiting it only to my actual Boxing Day shopping.

Spanx // This is a sale that I waited for all month. I knew it was coming. I knew it would be good. I knew I could pick up pieces that I will wear frequently this year, next year, and likely still be wearing in 2026.

When every influencer I know was promoting Spanx Air Essentials last fall, I was skeptical. Massive social campaigns always make the hair on my neck stand up; I’m afflicted with a bias against the hard sell. But these pieces are as good as advertised, and I am sorry it took me so long to find that out for myself. Nevertheless, a great piece of loungewear is always better on sale.

From the sale, I picked up one of my favorite tees in another color way, this chic tunic, and these leggings that I already own the top for. As for pieces I already own that are included in the sale, I highly recommend this striped maxi dress and this sleeveless work blouse that is perfection under a blazer (comes in three colors).

Ulta // My makeup bag could use a minor refresh. Some of my eyeshadows were purchased before Sloane was born. I know, I know. Luckily, Ulta is having a sale. I snapped up a new Black Honey lipstick and a couple of eye shadow duos. I also picked up some eyelash/eyebrow growth serum (really works, no notes).

Nordstrom // I cruised the Half-Yearly, as one does. Some really good discounts, but the only thing I purchased was this Natori bra with sheer details. It’s so comfortable, especially for an underwire. I am a big fan.

That’s it. That’s all my shopping today. As you get bombarded, remember that a sale is only a good deal if the piece is loved, worn and useful. If you wouldn’t buy it at full price, don’t buy it on sale (no matter what brand is on the tag).

My major issue with AirEssentials is that the pants don’t have pockets. That’s just never made any sense to me. The second they add pockets I’d purchase some.
