Glancing at my Instagram feed, I’m awash in gift guides. I am overwhelmed by the reality that the holidays are here again, but I have a job to do. Namely, saving others from having to spend hours hunting for that perfect gift. So let’s ease into the 2024 Gift Guides with a look at some of my favorite stocking stuffers for ladies over the age of 14 (because the same things the adult women in my life want, the teenage girls also seem to want, go figure).
This is always my favorite gift guide. There’s no pressure to perfectly tailor a stocking stuffer to the recipient. The goal is to choose a great gift that your loved one will use, wear, and love. It’s a lower bar, and freed from expectations of perfection, you can just enjoy shopping. Here are some of my favorites.
One. A Cool Bookmark // The moment I spotted this personalized leather bookmark on Etsy, I knew it was the perfect stocking stuffer for the person in your life who loves to read. You can also order it engraved with a meaningful message or quote. The minimalist magnetic bookmarks are also a great option for the woman who is always losing her page marker.
Two. A Rape Whistle // Every teenage and college aged lady in my life owns a Birdie; it’s one of my go-to gifts. Sure, it might not be the light, festive choice, but sometimes utility trumps cheer. The upgraded version, the Birdie+, offers an app to connect you to and on-call representative or loved ones 24/7. My 78-year-old neighbor used it to alert her husband that she’d fallen on a walk when she’d forgotten her phone.
Three. Great Earrings // These Monica Vinader hoop earrings have been sitting in my Nordstrom cart for more than a little while. The size is a little bigger for when you want a subtle statement. They also come in silver. Looking for a pair for under-$50? Quince has these great globe-hoops and several affordable choices.
Four. Lotions & Potions // Whether you’re shopping for your bestie, your sister-in-law, or your teenage niece, everyone deserves luxurious beauty products this holiday. The kind of thing you probably wouldn’t buy for yourself. This Dior Creme Apricot has been on three successive gift guides because it is one of the best beauty products on offer. Add to the list this Laura Mercier Lip Balm, this Necessaire Retinol hand creme, a mini Sol de Janeiro BumBum cream, and my favorite Touchland hand sanitizer.
Five. Aviator Sunglasses // I bought these Quay Tortoise Sunnies for myself and I cannot recommend them enough. They have that It Girl cool factor. For a spendier pair, my black and gold Ray-Bans always draw the compliments.
Six. Charms // My nieces tell me Kendra Scott is the must own jewelry brand for teenage and college-aged girls, so this pendant is the perfect thing to add to a stocking. And since peridot can be a more challenging birthstone to wear, the crisp lines and diminutive sizing make this charm a great option for August birthdays (comes in all 12 birthstone options). I also like this birthstone charm from Pandora.
Prefer a chunky, modern look similar to Foundrae? Miranda Frye and Mignonne Gavigan both have lovely pieces in a mid-tier price point.
Seven. Eye Patches // Are you tired? Me too. So is every woman you know over 22. These Topical Eye Patches really work. I forced my husband to take the on a recent business trip to Vegas, and the text the next morning read simply: “You’re my hero.” They’re that good.
Eight. Comfy House Shoes // Whether you like cozy slippers or just an easy indoor only shoe, footwear for colder months makes a great gift. These Rothy’s slides are a favorite. Bombas also has some lovely options. And since I’m told Uggs are the only footwear the young ones are interested in, give my favorite slippers or the popular ultra-minis a try.
