The Mondays: June 23, 2024

This weekend, I traveled out of state for work. My second work trip in two weeks. The thrill of being able to do whatever I choose without worrying about my daughter, my dogs, or my husband is kind of nice. But I miss Sloane so much, that I really can’t wait to get home. This is the double-edged sword that is motherhood — you need a break, but when you get one, you wish your child could join you.

Luckily, I have the Internet to keep me company.  Here is how I spent my lazy Sunday eating tiny cookies, watching reruns of Love It or List It, and surfing the web.

Over the past five years, I have owned two versions of this shoe.  Sadly, the first pair wore out after six months, and the second pair were left in a hotel room in New York City.  But this pair, from Anne Klein, is unquestionably the best one.  

The black and beige color way is my favorite, but there are five to choose from, including a linen for summer.  The shoes are made with iFlex technology, so your feet will thank you.  Plus, they’re a great price.  I was honestly impressed for $89 with the quality.

The trial of Karen Read has captivated Boston.  The 46-year-old equity analyst is accused of killing her boyfriend, a retired Boston Police officer, by hitting him with her car and leaving him lifeless in a snowbank.  But did she do it?  Her attorney argues that a cabal of corrupt cops framed her to cover up their own malfeasance.  Vanity Fair discusses why we can’t look away.

Last summer, I bought these incredible Spanx shorts and promptly lost them.  I have no idea where or how, but they’re gone.  So imagine my elation when I realized that I could replace them for less than $60.  Thank you, Summer Clearance sale.  

The shorts are stretchy and comfortable.  The a-line cut ensures they won’t be too tight.  And the 4.5″ inseam is perfection.  Also, the size guide is 100% accurate.

Do you have a Paris obsessed friend?  Me too.  I snapped up these cups from Nordstrom for her recent housewarming and she adored them, and so did the other ladies at the party.  So if you need a gift that is useful, chic and won’t break the bank, two or four of these is the ticket.
