The Range: Belts

Apr 4, 2024

Over the past few years, I’ve gained a bit of weight. And while I have replaced my dresses, my jeans, my suits, and even my underwear to accommodate my new size…I somehow forgot to replace my belts. Well, spring is here, and I own multiple outfits that could benefit from a new belt. So here are a few that caught my eye.

I love a woven, straw belt with summer dresses.  It really freshens up the look.  Anthropologie has this one in several colors.

This perforated black belt is a good one to have on hand to wear with wrap dresses or over work sheaths.  I love that the perforations lighten the look.  An affordable belt to add to your collection.  If you’re between sizes, go up.

If you need a belt to wear with jeans, this plaque belt is the one.  I love the oblong shape of the buckle.  I like the width — not too thin, not too thick.  And the belt comes in three great neutrals.

Flowy, summery dresses get an instant boost from this incredibly unique belt.  I love the open loop and the cool styling.  If you have a slightly dressy summer dress — a flutter sleeve wrap, perhaps — this belt will help you wear it casually.  It’s a very stylish piece.

If you buy only one belt today, make it this affordable stretch belt.  Stretch belts are the best because they can stretch over thick sweater dresses, cover the pinned ties of a wrap dress, and make any dress look more polished.  This is a great style, and no woman should be without one.

Love this round up! My favorite belts are from Edited Pieces. I love the clean look of the pass-through buckle. I bought the cream with silver buckle and went back a year later for the black with gold. Both belts are reversible and the buckles are interchangeable. Love them!

Love the idea of belting over a wrap dress. A more structured belt is so often more flattering than any fabric ties. I can never get my ties quite right/fully hidden though – does anyone know of a good tutorial for pinning the ties so that a belt sits well on top?

I totally missed this post and submitted a question to Thirtyish on this exact topic. Oops! Any chance you could do a follow-up on how you would wear these? I know you described how to wear the belts in this post, but I struggle with belts – it’s been years since I’ve worn them – and I’m more of a literal person (need a picture or outfit layout to see how the outfit would look/envision final style). Thanks for the timely post!
