This week was a bit of a mess.  Kyle is sick.  I am sick.  We have no reliable childcare, so we’re cobbling together work time where we can.  We missed our Thanksgiving dinner pickup, and had less than two hours to shop for and cook a meal for six people.  But we’re making it work, somehow.

And in between nap schedule, disinfecting every surface (twice), and trying to keep Sloane entertained (God bless, Bluey), I did manage a little bit of window shopping.

Can a puffy winter coat also be pretty?  Canada Goose’s Reformation collab gives you warmth with a side of femininity.  I absolutely love these coats — the patterns, the colors, the fact that most choices are reversible.  They are definitely a splurge, but if you live in a cold climate and you’re tired of basic black, this might be your way to look chic in the chill.

Want to wear sneakers in the winter but sick of cold feet?  These ivory Veja sneakers have a shearling lining to keep your toes warm. They’re also a wonderful option if stark white isn’t for you.  Also, these would be perfect on a plane flight.  My feet always get so cold when I fly.

Over the Moon has a wide variety of pretty things for your closet and your home.  I discovered the retailer after I spotted this painted vase and jug set on Pinterest.  If you’re looking for unique gifts that not everyone is featuring in their guides, check out their selection of presents, mostly from small and medium sized retailers.  I’m so obsessed with this Aerin champagne bucket.  Luckily, I found these vintage ones on Etsy for less.  Love this French one.

Makeup by Mario is not a brand that I’ve tried before, but women are raving about this eyeshadow palette.  Whether you need everyday neutrals or shimmer for evening, it appears to have everything you need.  From friends to influencers, I keep tripping over this palette.  Maybe it’s a sign?

When I lived in D.C., I never once bought a Christmas tree.  The small, apartment sized ones always looked…well, a little sad.  This Balsam Hill tree with crystals, beads and a champagne-colored base is anything but sad.  Whether you need a second tree for another room or something to spruce up your apartment, this is a wonderful option.  Looking for something cheaper?  This Pottery Barn tree with mirrored branches is a little bit more affordable.

Uff, that’s hard. I hope all of you are on the mend. Like these picks but what I am really interested in learning is how the heck did you put together a Thanksgiving meal in 2 hours??? Would love to get a deeper dive into your process if you want to make a post on that.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
