The Find: Bring On the Colorblock (Sweater)

Oct 12, 2023

Last year, I placed a pickup order from Nordstrom and there was an extra sweater in the bag.  Naturally, I called the store to report the errant garment.  Had I been charged for it? No.  Did it belong to someone else? No.  Where had it come from?  They didn’t know, but they kindly asked me to return it.  So I did.

Then, I thought about it for a year.  Not that I should have kept a sweater I didn’t pay for (though my husband told me repeatedly that there was nothing wrong with keeping it).  But that I really liked the sweater, and it was my size, so maybe I should have bought it.  So imagine my elation when I spotted it on the Nordstrom website.

The mystery sweater came from Vince Camuto, and this season they’ve made this color block delight in 10 color ways including this incredible amber hue.  I placed this color on my wishlist, and am currently debating between the olive and the bright pink.  Both are lovely, though they’re very different looks.

Sizing runs a bit large, so if you’re between sizes or don’t like an oversize look, size down.  Largest size is 18, but given the cut, size 20 wearers might fir comfortably as well.

Vince Camuto also has this cotton sweater with asymmetric color blocking.  I also like this version with color block sleeves.  It’s a unique, interesting sweater.  I’d pair mine with a pair of light wash jeans, but I love the idea of it with white denim as well.

Now, I know some of you will not have warm fuzzies for a sweater made of acrylic, but I’ve given up on wool.  I think my allergies have gotten worse since having Sloane, and my previously light wool allergy is now a ticket to itchy red rashes on my neck and wrists.  So I’m happy for any material that isn’t wool right now.

I bought this last year in taupe and it quickly became one of my favorite sweaters. Nice cut and super cozy. I sized down and was happy I did.

Perfect timing for me! I had a similar sweater from Old Navy many years ago that I loved, but it’s worn out and I’ve been looking to replace it.
