I like the Old Navy maxi you posted. I wore this one over the weekend to a casual co-Ed baby shower at a brewery and got a lot of compliments. Breezy and comfy! https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=809123052&cid=15292&pcid=15292&vid=1&cpos=53&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D15292&ctype=Listing&cpid=res637884113070861848#pdp-page-content

I appreciate motherhood is a completely different journey for every person. I read a lot of these kinds of articles about “what I wish I knew, or “what no one tells you…” and it turned me off from having kids until later in life. Since none of my closest girlfriends have kids either, all I heard was how difficult it would be. I now have a 1.5 year old… and it’s been so much more fun than I ever imagined, and that’s what I wish I knew. I have never laughed so much, smiled so much, and have had so much tenderness before in my day to day life. Sure, juggling work and home and now a kid is more time consuming and exhausting than I thought it would be, but on the whole, I feel a lot happier, (even with ten extra pounds, which, pre-baby would have completely tanked my happiness) which I was NOT expecting from these kinds of articles.

    • Denise says:

Motherhood, I find, is truly about tempering expectations.

I read all of the articles and I did find mothering hard… but then I made a serious change in my life and ended a very unhappy marriage to my children’s father. And that is when I was finally able to sit with myself and really, truly enjoy my children.

Sometimes we have to let go of what we clung to so tightly before having kids (for me – my marriage, perhaps for you it was the 10 pounds) to be able to embrace motherhood.

The calculator for arriving at the party gave me a laugh. Silly but thoughtful

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
