The Beauty Range: Body Acne Solutions

Apr 8, 2022

As the summer heat approaches, many of us have to prepare for the body acne that comes with humidity, sweat, and sun.  These three products can help you prevent acne, treat acne, and keep your skin in shape for summer.

The One for Workouts

This Avanza Skin Gel is the product for sweat acne.  Whether it’s from a hot commute or a workout, clogged pores can’t stand up to this cooling gel that open pores.  Just put a little on your chest and shoulders and say goodbye to sweat acne.

The Spray to Save the Day

This Pacifica Spray is chock full of niacinamide, salicylic acid, and aloe to prevent and treat body acne.  Also, the spray mechanism on this can allows you to spray upside down for those hard-to-reach areas.  One tip?  Do not spray this in an unventilated area, or you will choke on the thick aerosol.

The One to Smooth Things Out

So many scrubs are made with shea butter or other thick, oily substances.  Therefore, they’re not good for opening up pores and clearing acne.  This Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub has AHAs, citrus peel extracts, and sugar exfoliants.  Keep it in your shower to smooth out the bumps caused by body acne.

I remember you are allergic to Sulfur but for anyone who is not the best thing I ever did for body acne was start using a good sulfur soap every day on my problem areas. I found a good one on Amazon Sulfur Soap for Acne Pharmaceutical Grade Dermatologists FDA Approved for Acne Rosacea 100G https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B014HYI86M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_i_MAZ53XBESQTQ91RKFGS4 and now I buy it direct in bulk from their Etsy shop. I have also tried to go cheaper and been very very disappointed, so remember this can be used sparingly on problem areas and can go a long way. I notice a difference right away if I’m not using it daily.

It’s worth discussing with your dermatologist. Spironolactone has been very effective for me in a way gels, creams, and soaps never were.

I just came to post this as well. After many years of trying every product out there, spiro completely cleared up my back, chest and face in a month!

    • Monica T says:

Definitely cannot be used when trying to conceive or pregnant, due to birth defect risks. Be sure to talk to your derm. That said this also made a life changing difference in both body acne and hormonal jawline acne for me.

I also recommend using Hibiclens in the shower: https://hibiclens.com/

    • Belle says:

A few years ago the CDC/NIH put out a joint release asking people not to use Hibiclens outside of surgical or medical practice. Apparently, when it washes into the drain and into the sewers, it contributes to the growth of antibiotic resistant bacteria.

I had not heard this. I will ask my dermatologist (she is the one who recommended it) and for an alternate. Thanks.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
