A Last Call for Holiday Gifts: A Dressed Up Sweatshirt

Dec 9, 2021

The pandemic took us all to a very casual place.  We went from suits to joggers overnight.  Now that we’re all adjusting to the third year of the pandemic, maybe a sweatshirt with a little more style is called for.  This is it.

This Wide Button-Collar sweatshirt from J.Crew is a great option for any woman on your Christmas list.  It’s the kind of cozy piece that has both style and utility.  You can throw it on on the weekends, wear it for travel, or layer it over pajamas on Christmas morning.

The length is great for wearing with leggings.  I layer mine over workout gear for my walks.

It comes in seven colors, but this pale grey and the oatmeal are my favorites.  Sizes run XXS to 3X; it runs just a hair big.  And the price makes it an affordable option.

I’m trying to be really careful about what I add to my wardrobe. I WFH and any meetings are had with cameras off. However, I stopped reading mid-way through the post to place an order. You come through again! Thanks!

I bought two of these sweatshirts last fall and love them. They are soft on the inside and wash well. It did shrink up a bit, which cancels out the initial looseness. I’m squarely a small and bought a small in one and medium in the other. For a roomy look like the photo above, I need the medium.

I bought this last year in green and literally got complimented on it yesterday! It’s been a great piece for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It looks good on Zoom but ultimately is a sweatshirt – I love it. Might have to pick it up in another color…

I own this sweatshirt in seven colors in both the sweatshirt style and the tunic style. I’m a huge fan of how cozy it is, and the tunic style is long enough to wear with leggings and cover my bum, which I really I love. However, it will shrink A LOT if you dry it even on the lowest setting for just a few minutes. Cold water wash and hang dry is the only way to go. Also, the ones I bought this year (as opposed to the 2019 version) pill after about two wearings, so keep that in mind. I don’t mind buying them for 60% off with the pilling issues, but I definitely wouldn’t pay full price for the quality.

You always have such great recs! Do you know the shoulder to hem length? I’m tall and jcrew factory can be hit or miss in terms of fit for me. I wish they’d just list it on their website. Thanks!!

    Perfect. I just ordered two.

I just bought this, from this post, and it’s so incredibly soft! Fit is tunic like, long and loose.
