Basics Week: Amazing Spring Coats

Apr 28, 2021

It’s going to be a wet spring where I live.  We had five sunny days and then, bam, nothing but rain and snow for weeks.  Welcome to Montana.  So I wanted to share some beyond-basic spring jackets.

This Madewell Waterproof Anorak is the perfect casual jacket for rainy days.  It has a hoodie and is truly waterproof.  It comes in this pale mauve, a dark caramel, and a pale yellow.  Available in plus.

LL Bean’s Women’s Classic Utility Jacket is the best.  The heavy canvas material, the classic styling, and the cinch-able waist (to keep away that overly boxy look) are all great.  I own two colors, and I love them almost too much.  Also available in petite and plus-sizes.

This soft, drape trench from Marks & Spencer trench coat is perfect for work or weekend.  It comes in vanilla (shown) and a pale pink.  And I like that it’s professional without being totally buttoned up.

While I love the canvas utility jacket, the look of this lightweight, soft Banana Republic Field Jacket is so chic.  It comes in this burnt copper color is incredible.

J.Crew Mercantile has this cute bomber jacket for spring.  It’s a modern look that gives you casual and chic at the same time.  And it’s perfect for wearing with jeans or athleisure.

I bought the LL bean jacket last year based on your recommendation and love it so much. It goes with everything.

I have the LL Bean jacket–wearing it right now–and I love it so much. I’m thinking about a second one.

+1 for buying the LLB jacket on your recommendation. I got in in grey and love it, and I’m probably springing for a navy flannel one in the fall.

Also bought the LLBean coat based on your recommendation and just yesterday bought a one for a Mother’s Day gift. One of the best purchases ever made

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
