The Beauty Range: Sephora Sale Picks

Apr 9, 2021

Yesterday, a friend who is returning to work next week texted me: I feel like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

It’s been a long hibernation for many of us who didn’t wear makeup during the WFH period of the pandemic, or wore makeup infrequently.  But, luckily, the Sephora Sale has begun to refresh our makeup bags and medicine chests.  Rouge members can start shopping today, VIBs on Tuesday, using code OMGSPRING.

Have dry hair?  This Olaplex hair mask is fantastic for smoothing split ends, moisturizing, and adding body and shine.  And, unlike other Olaplex products that are a bit messy, it comes in a simple pump dispenser so you don’t waste product.

Use a facial sponge to apply foundation?  Tossing it back in your bag makes it gunky and gross, not to mention the perfect growth medium for bacteria.  This case from Sephora keeps it cleaner and is perfect for drying a freshly washed sponge.  (This is the best soap for washing your sponges.)

This eyeliner from Charlotte Tilbury is called Feline Flick.  It is the perfect tool for creating cat-eye or flicked eyeliner.  So smooth.  So black.  It’s almost impossible to mess up.

I’m still trying to give up disposable makeup wipes.  These Makeup Eraser rounds remove all of your makeup with ease, come with a wash bag to keep them clean, and there are enough to get you through the week.  I use the pink one on Wednesday, because whimsy is fun.

These Isle of Paradise tanning drops are the perfect way to get a little bit of glow without buying a giant bottle of self-tanner every summer.  Just put a few drops in your body or face lotion, and then smooth on.  The drops come in three intensities: light, medium, dark.

I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately while still working from home, so yesterday I decided I’m going to start wearing at least some makeup each workday, to feel a bit more “normal”. Even if it’s just lipstick! I’m definitely checking out the makeup eraser wipes and the Inkey blemish product you mentioned recently!

RAINBOW FACE WIPES!!! So cute, must have!

Just echoing those awkward emotions, feeling in a funk but also not ready to splurge on a bunch of makeup I won’t wear (especially during a hot summer) WFH. I’ve added and removed the Caviar stick in a neutral shade no fewer than three times from my cart, because now that I’ve gone this long without eye makeup, am I really going to start wearing it again if I don’t have to? Even when I go back to the office? And believe me I am a person who (in a past life) GOES CAMPING WITH MASCARA, because blonde lashes equal no lashes sometimes.

I can’t answer all these questions yet. For now, I’m happy to stock up on skincare and RAINBOW FACE WIPES! YAY!

I bought these flannel rounds from Etsy and I love them. They might be worth a try! I just use them with micellar water first, and then a toner after I wash my face.

I love these roundups – thank you! I’m intrigued by the self-tanning oil drops and like the idea of being able to control how much (or how little) you add to face & body lotion. Currently I use tan towels but it’s such an operation to apply. Can anyone speak to their experience using the drops? I’m wondering about color bleed, mostly.

I recently bought the Isle of Paradise starter kit (comes with the drops, tan water, and a glove). I love it! I am very pale, so I use very little, and it doesn’t leave me too streaky or fake looking (I’m not that meticulous, but try to get it pretty even). I use the tan water (it is a spray) on my body and one drop of the medium drops mixed in with moisturizer on my face two or three times per week (I swim so it fades a bit quicker than it probably would otherwise). It is easy and gives me a nice glow for everyday. Way cheaper than the custom spray tans I use for events, it’s vegan/clean, and no overspray to worry about getting in your lungs like at the booths. The only challenge for me is getting it evenly spread on my back and making sure my dog doesn’t lick me after I put it on.

      • Christine says:

Also, I don’t notice any bleed, but I don’t have white sheets or often wear light colors. I haven’t noticed any bleed on towels or anything (and I stand on a towel to spray the tanning water).

  5. Sierra says:

I love the rounds but be careful when you wash them and use the bag! I didn’t realize if they aren’t in the bag they can slip through a part of our washer and get lodged in the filter. I couldn’t figure out why our washer was backing up until my husband pulled out the filter and a few of my facial pads!

  6. SC says:

I’m totally going to get those Isle of Paradise drops when it’s actually warm enough here for bare legs and I can ditch the tights. (Sadly not today, it’s 32 F. Save me, sunshine!). Excited to try them out!
