Long Read. The crushing reality of Zoom school is hitting home.

Today, I launched something new over on my Instagram Stories.  It’s called “Break Things,” and if you love The Edition, you will not want to miss it.

Break Things is a collection of items to give you a little break in the middle of your afternoon.  Articles about work, relationships, culture and mental health mix with memes, music, art, and whatever else lifts me up that day.  It’s designed to let you take a breath and reset every weekday at 2:00PM.

The best way to experience Break Things is via my Instagram Stories.  But if you’re not on Instagram, subscribe to the Break Things Newsletter on Substack.

Hope to see you there!

I see a lot of my friends’ relationships in that divorce article. My husband and I often tell people that we are trying to live the divorced lifestyle before we get divorced (e.g., actually splitting the housework/childcare, regularly going out on our own during the week, saying that we need a night off from the grind even if we are home). People give us the side eye and laugh uncomfortably, but we are serious!

  2. ET says:

    1) I love the idea of Break Things! I’ve been trying to come up with them on my own but there are limits to my own imagination at this point.

    2) Listen to “Bastards” by Kesha if you haven’t already. It has your energy right now. Yes, that Kesha of 2010-ish gargage-chic fame. It’s an awesome acoustic song from her 2016 album Rainbow (also had “Praying” on it–the whole album is great imo).

  3. SG says:

LOVE the Break Things on Insta Stories!! It made me so happy when I saw it yesterday.

  4. Rachel says:

Loving Break Things!! Thanks for always creating and directing us to great content.

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.
