The Range: Puffer Vests

Sep 2, 2020

From Moncler to Old Navy, and everything in between, puffer vests are part of the Pacific Northwest uniform.  And since the evening temperatures have started dropping, it’s time to bring mine out of storage.  Here are a few in every price point.

LOVE that Athleta one! And yes – definitely part of the PNW uniform.

Maybe it’s because of the puffer vest, but funnily enough on the main page for this website on my phone, right below where it says dress for the job you want, not the job you have, I’m getting an ad for tactical shorts. Like, paramilitary shorts. Probably not the job I want, nor the job I have. But it’s kinda amusing.
Looking forward to hearing about the mascara, btw.

Since, I’m on the bustier side I worry about looking boxy in these cold weather staples. Highly recomend the Lululemon Down For It All Vest which is more fitted at the waist. I’m a CA transplant and used this to keep warm under my dress coast in NYC for my first winter or as a nice layer in late fall.

I came here to comment about this vest too. I got it last fall and I absolutely love it!! The stretchy sides make it great for layering under a coat as you mention, and I love that detail when I wear it on runs too (side note, it has so many pockets without bulk, which is even more of a win in my book).

  4. Kris says:

I love the look of the Moncler vest but I just cannot come to terms with the fact that someone might spend over $700 on a puffer vest during these times. I understand that this is a fashion blog and apologize if my comment is contextually inappropriate, but I would encourage anyone who has the financial means to spend this much on a vest to consider using some of their wealth to support the candidate of their choice in advance of this November’s election.

    • Katel says:

This feature has always had a high end offering in the mix. I see it as the .1% choice and chuckle.

      • Cait says:

Agree with Kate L! I also find it helpful to look at similar items in different price points to see what the “upgraded” features are for a given piece of clothing even if it’s way outside my budget- sometimes there are different materials used or it’s made with a more durable construction and other times there is unique styling or branding (although I appreciate Abra keeping heavily logo-ed items off the site!).

        • Kris says:

Kate L and Cait, thank you! These are really great points. I can both chuckle at the high-price items but also use them to evaluate the quality of my lower-end purchases.

  5. Jennie says:

Love this puffer! Any ideas for a similar more affordable version? https://glamourpussnyc.com/collections/fall-winter-vests/products/the-glam-vest

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
