The Range: The No-Wire Bra Edition

Jun 10, 2020

I thought I was wearing comfortable bras — bras that I liked — until the pandemic hit, and I didn’t have to wear a bra every day.  Now, there is nothing I want to do less than put on a bra.  Here are some wire-free bras to replace your regular bra.

Natori Soft Wear Full-Fit Contour Bra ($70)

This Natori bra has molded foam cups that “offer underwire support.”  The straps and band are also adjustable.  The sizes run from 32C to 40DDD.

Wacoal How Perfect No Wire Bra ($65)

With a traditional bra shape and foam cups, this bra gives you underwire-like support with no wire.  Sizes run 30B to 40DD.

Calvin Klein Skinny Strap Bralette ($28)

The straps on this CK bra are adjustable, but the band is one solid piece.  If you’re looking for smoothing on the sides, this is a good choice.

Sloggi Zero Feel Bralette ($40)

This bra has wider straps and slightly padded cups.  It also comes in six different colors.  While it is very comfortable, my only complaint is that it has to go over my head.  So…

Sloggi Oxygene Infinite Bra ($40)

I purchased this Sloggi bra because it clasped in the back.  It is made of the same material as the bra above.  I like the medium-width straps and the decorative mesh trim.

DKNY Mesh Bralette ($21)

This bra has unlined cups, but the darts provide some lift.  The adjustable straps and band also help.  The mesh is also light and breathable.

Calvin Klein Invisibles Plus Size Bralette ($40)

This wire free bralette has microfiber cups for comfort.  The band and straps are adjustable.  Sizes run 1x to 3x.

Yes! This is great content! I took advantage of a True & Co sale to pick up a couple wireless bras and am seriously considering never going back to underwire (TBD, since I’m a C/D).

  2. Elz says:

Same! I’m all wire free these days and never want to go back. I bought some True & Coand Spanx bras a few months ago and love them.

  3. Jennifer says:

Agreed with the first comment – this is great content. I’m nursing right now so I have to wait until I’m not anymore, but I’ll be back to this post to try a couple of these later!

    • Catherine says:

Check out Knix! They are awesome and I think just released nursing styles. Wire free! And size inclusive!

Also a shout out to the underwear!

  4. Lost says:

Thanks for including such a range of sizes. As a 32D, I’ve never been interested in a bralette because I need support. The 1st two look like interesting options for a comfortable alternative to my underwire bras.

    • Katel says:

I’m similarly proportioned and was skeptical of wire free. I bought from Lively for weekend use and find them structured enough to wear with business formal settings.

    • PW says:

Totally hear you, and +1 on Lively. I’m a 32DD and their busty bralettes are fabulous and offer enough support.

  5. Kathryn W says:

I’m a 30A and can only speak to my size, but I’ve only been wearing Uniqlo’s wireless bras in XS for work for the past 2 years. I’m mostly concerned with shape under clothes, and this bra looks great under dresses and blouses. Their stock is a little limited right now, but I highly recommend this one for any petite ladies in the IBTC.

  6. A says:

I’m 38H and have yet to find a wireless bra that works other than my nursing bras from those days (when I was a 38J). Such is the life.

  7. Bon says:

For anyone who is on the smaller side (I’m a 30D) Aerie (aka american eagle) has fantastic bralettes for great prices and they have sales all the time. I bought one a couple of years ago and I’ve now amassed 6 or 7. I consider them a more comfortable alternative to wearing a sports bra when I’m just hanging out at home (and it keeps my sports bras clean for when I want to work out and really need the support!).

  8. Sara says:

I have really enjoyed Target’s Auden wire-free bras. I got the nursing version, and have been super happy to find that the regular version is just as comfy. And super affordable–about $15 ea.

  9. C says:

Bali Comfort revolution. Saw recommended on corporette. Back clasp, can find under $20. I’m a 34DD (my bust is 39 around, 32 underbust but Wearing a 32 is too tight for me).

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
