I think the Apple Pie link directs us to the 25 movies article. But the pie looks absolutely wonderful!

  2. Sara says:

wow, that jacquard dress is a beauty!

    • Belle says:

Isn’t it? I may have to post it again with picture, because I can’t get it out of my head.

  3. Denise says:

I really liked the emotional drain article. I find myself so short with my kids in the evenings on the days where I dive into work at 6AM and attempt to manage too many things. What I’ve learned is that I HAVE to get outside at least once a day. I try to run 3x/week in the mornings and in the evenings the kids and I go on a bike ride. It replenishes me and then I don’t turn into scary mommy in the evenings!

How do you all feel about ordering from Amazon? I was placing orders at least once a week until their workers’ strike last weekend. Now I feel guilty… since their workers demanded that Amazon only ship essentials. At least half my deliveries were non-essentials (clothes, toys etc). Any else in two minds about Amazon?

    • Jenna Barbe says:

I have slowed down quite a bit on my Amazon purchases. Part of which is due to my husband effectively being laid off in a few more months, but also just felt like there was a strain on the “system” right at first and felt like my non-essentials were straining resources to get actual essentials to people that really needed them. I would like to focus on buying locally when possible but sometimes it’s just easier with Amazon. I don’t feel guilty about ordering from Amazon though. There are some Amazon workers that are not happy, but others are happy just to be working. The overload on Amazon is causing them to hire people that are out of work so there are two sides here. I read a headline that Amazon is giving 3rd quarter profits to fight COVID, but I don’t really know what they means fully because I just read the headline. 😉

    • Hh says:

Yep, definitely had mixed feelings about ordering even before the strike because I’m worried about warehouse staff – and delivery folks – contracting Covid because they had no choice but to work even if they don’t have the protections they need. We’ve really curtailed our Amazon habit since the pandemic, and I’ve just skipped ordering things or bought them from somewhere local where I can do pickup. (Though we did order diaper wipes from Amazon since they were no where to be found.) It’s hard to avoid it completely.

    • Belle says:

I’m also of two minds about it. I understand the argument that if we stop buying non-essentials (or if I stop posting them here) the company will be more apt to listen to the workers. But I just don’t know if that’s true, so I keep adding “non-essentials” to my food and pharmacy orders. Though I have slowed down my ordering a lot since I used to use Amazon for everything instead of going to the store.

    • TheLOOP says:

Thank you all. I wish there was a way to support Amazon workers and not just Bezos but I know I am asking for the impossible.

  5. Sara says:

I know you are passionate about this subject and this article just won a Pulitzer this week…sexual violence in rural Alaska. It is almost a year old, but wanted to share. Sara

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
