Food banks around the country are suffering as the number of people in need surge.  You can make a donation to Feeding America or your local food bank.  Meals on Wheels provides meals to needy senior citizens, and are now tasked with trying to care for that community and keep them safe.

If your job and your home are secure, spare a few dollars for those who are struggling the most in this crisis.  What we do today can build a brighter tomorrow if we all do our part.

I agree with the toilet paper article. But I also have 6 kids, and let me tell you, I am not running out of toilet paper with that many kids in my house! Nor am I going to sit there and hand everyone a few sheets every time they go in and out of the bathroom! I also agree that I don’t really think the majority of people are hoarding or panic buying. I think most people realize that they don’t carry much extra on a regular basis, and that it is indeed wise to have some extra. If 50 million people realize they only have 4 rolls apiece, then of course they’re going to run to the store.

    • MARY says:

I typically do almost all of my toilet business at the office or the gym. But now that I haven’t left my house in 4+ weeks, I’m running through my personal stash of TP a lot quicker than normal. I don’t think people are hoarding; they’re adjusting their purchasing to reflect a new need.

      • Melissa says:

Same. I basically consider TP and coffee part of my compensation as the majority of my consumption of both is at work. If Canada Revenue throws a line item on the next tax forms for Covid related expenses those should count 😉 I’ve used more of both at home in the last month than I usually do in a full quarter.

Love that HBR article, thank you for sharing!

  3. RHIANNA says:

I got that white blazer from earlier this week and it is perfect!

  4. Niki says:

I just bought my third Ottoman. You’ve created a (very comfortable) monster 🙂

Thank you also for suggesting thinking of donating to local food banks. My company matches employee 501c3 donations so I have been donating a bit every time I get paid. I am so fortunate and feel awful for those who have lost their jobs or been furloughed.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
