The Beauty Range: Foundation Brushes

Mar 13, 2020

Applying foundation evenly and smoothly is the key to getting a flawless look.  While I like makeup sponges, foundation brushes give even coverage with the least amount of product.  Here are some of my favorite brushes.

The Game Changer

This Artis Palm Brush gives you an incredibly amount of control when applying foundation.  You apply the product with your fingers (a dot on the forehead, cheeks, etc.), and then blend it in light, circular strokes.  It blends flawlessly and requires very little product to get good coverage.

For Powder Foundations

This Bare Minerals Beautiful Finish Brush has a convex shape to apply more product with less effort.  It’s perfect for applying loose powder foundations.

The Most Reliable Brand

Sigma brushes are a great mid-price option if you need good quality brushes in a wide variety of types.  Their Kabuki brush is one of my favorites.  The short, densely packed bristles apply foundation lightly or build it to deeper coverage.

Best Drugstore Brand

This Real Techniques Expert Face Brush is a fantastic option for under-$10.  The bristles are soft and densely packed, and the domed brush head helps blend foundation.  It also cleans up easily, which is always a good quality in a brush.

Great options! I love my Trish McEvoy foundation brush as well. It’s on the higher end, but the coverage and application are excellent—easy to blend and build as desired. I also prefer a longer handle.
