Five Festive Party Looks for New Year’s Eve

Dec 16, 2019

While Christmas has not yet come and gone, I have already moved on to 2020.  I am ready for a new year, so let’s talk about outfits for a glorious New Year’s Eve.  Because a New Year should always be greeted in style.

Whether you’re wearing the perfect cocktail dress of jeans and a chic sweater, a pair of dramatic earrings can really lift your look.  This pair from Eye Candy strikes a nice balance between bold and dainty.  I adore the soft teal hue of the drops.

These Kendra Scott Corza earrings offer a long, delicate look.  For something minimalist, try these discounted Lizzie Fortunato abalone disc earrings.  Not a fan of drop earrings?  Baublebar has these bold pearl ear crawlers and these interesting, but subtle, Taj crawlers.

Shine on you crazy diamond in a sparkly, eye-catching blouse.  This Bardot bodysuit can be tucked into a simple black pant or a sleek denim jean.  Or recycle your office pencil skirt for a classic look.

Prefer a v-neck?  Bardot also makes this Siren long sleeve bodysuit.  For something under-$50, this Leith square-neck top is fabulous.  Plus-size?  This Halogen clip-dot metallic top is so chic.

Headbands are the hottest accessory on the market right now.  Instead of the knotted velvet headbands that you see on many bloggers, I chose this graduated pearl headband from Lele Sadoughi.  I love how pretty it is.

For something more affordable, this Lovers + Friends headband is a great option.  Looking for something daintier?  I love this Anthro headband and this pearl wire-headband from TJMaxx.

Wear it with your hair down, or put your hair in a messy bun, and add the headband to complete the look.

If you’re in need of the perfect little black dress, New Year’s Eve is a great excuse to buy one.  This Eliza J off-shoulder dress definitely caught my eye.  I love the wider, asymmetrical shoulder strap.   It also comes in a pretty berry hue if you’re good on black dresses.

This Vince Camuto one-sleeve dress with a ruched waist would be very flattering.  For something you could repurpose for work or cocktail, this Chelsea28 cap sleeve dress is a good option.  Prefer something casual?  This AE mock neck sweater dress is a good option.  Plus-size?  This RSVP midi-dress has a chic dotted-sheer sleeve.

Exhausted by the idea of getting dressed up for the holiday?  All you need is a great lipstick and a cool pair of shoes.  That’s it.

These mesh-crystal booties from Express are the epitome of a cool party shoe.  These Marc Fisher Zala pumps have a square-heel in case you plan on doing a lot of walking.   For a flat option, I love these crystal-embellished pink satin mules from Banana.

What is your favorite party look?  And do you look forward to dressing for holiday parties?

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
