The Edition: No. 138

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. — John F. Kennedy

Perturbed.  It’s no longer okay to type “ok” in work emails.

Distanced. On creating boundaries with toxic relatives.

Upgraded. This discounted DvF dress is a pure showstopper.

Roar. Why do we lionize bad bosses?

Discounted. This Fair Isle sweater dress and Frost Free vest are on my Black Friday list from Old Navy.

Brawl. The Democrat debates show why it’s often tough to fight like a girl.

Slept. JCPenney has adorable and affordable holiday pajamas; so you don’t go broke getting that Christmas Card photo.

Parity. Husbands’ stress grows as their wives earn more money.

Warmed. This blue coat from Halogen is to die for.  Also loving this Ann Taylor coat.

Solo. Should everyone be sleeping alone?

Cupped. This hot chocolate snowman could be a fun holiday activity.

Refresh. New Year, New Job? Start with Career Contessa.

Amusing. An Influencer Reports for Jury Duty

This holiday season, we gather with the ones we love to give thanks and spread joy.  And then, we pour ourselves the many cocktails necessary to numb the pain of being asked why we don’t have kids yet, why working as a lawyer wasn’t fulfilling, and when the Endless Remodel will be completed.  Because the holidays may be promoted by Hallmark, but they are perfected by Crown Royal.

To help us out, Real Simple has 31 Funny Conversation Starters for your family and friends.

How to avoid talking politics with your Angry Uncle.  And how to navigate the conversation if you can’t.

If you need to avoid family altogether this holiday season, know that family estrangement is more common than people realize.  And this article discusses how to go no-contact or limited contact when the relationships turn toxic.

And lastly, if your taking children to visit relatives, here are some tips on gratitude and graciousness for young ones.

Whatever you’re doing this Thursday, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to read this blog.  Please be safe if you’re traveling for the holiday.  I’ll see you on Monday, or catch my Instagram Stories for some Black Friday shares.

This is my new holiday mantra. Thank you for being a bright spot during my days. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  3. Signe says:

My husband and I sleep in different rooms and it is AMAZING. I would never go back to sharing.

  4. Ral says:

Really interesting articles! Thanks so much all your time and efforts!

  5. Cara says:

Great article from Time. Sad and so true.

  6. Maria says:

That “ok” article was interesting. I wonder whether it’s just a single case. I learned “kk” as gaming slang for “okay” but my millennial friends who aren’t gamers had no idea what I was saying. I agree with the advice in the article, though.

And I like those articles on bad bosses, toxic relationships and fighting like a girl. Really needed to see something like those today. Thank you so much having this blog!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
