7 Fabulous Handbags for Holiday Bonus Season

I need to start this week over.  Nothing has been going quite right.  Yesterday’s posts were so boring on second look that I couldn’t post them.  So where to start over, how about with some handbags?

We’ve discussed before that  the designer handbag world is not my scene.  I can appreciate a beautiful Hermes, Celine, Louis Vuitton, or Chanel bag (and I understand that many view them as a financial investment, since they hold their value) but they’re just not for me.  I would much rather find a stylish, high-quality bag in the $350-$750 price range.  So here are a few beauties  that I have had my eye on, in case you are on the hunt of a holiday bonus gift to yourself.

Strathberry Midi Tote ($750)

This bag comes in many colors.  The burgundy is lovely.  I’m also partial to the red.

Mansur Gavriel Top Handle ($695)

ALLSAINTS Kita Backpack ($398)

This is the coolest backpack I have ever seen, but it also looks great as a tote.

Shinola Accordion Tote ($695)

Even though it’s narrow, I love the style of this bag.  Reminds me of the older style briefcases.

Sophie Hulme Light Brown Albion Bag ($443)

This was THE bag a few years ago, but I still like it.  If the gold plates are too much of a throwback for you, this all-black bag is nice as well.

Cuyana Trapeze Satchel ($395)

Cuyana Work Satchel ($475)

I love these picks! One warning about the Cuyana work satchel, though: if it’s filled too full (and by “too full” I mean wallet, keys, phone, a makeup bag, a MacBook air with charger and a small-ish folder of documents), the crossbody strap won’t hold. The strap uses holes and metal pegs for adjustment and if there’s too much weight the pegs won’t stay in the holes, the strap comes apart, and your bag falls on the ground. I bought it because I was looking for an everyday workhorse and I wanted to take some strain off my body by carrying it crossbody, but it is not the bag for that, sadly.

Mine gets pretty heavy when full. I haven’t used the crossbody strap much, but it is not substantial.

I saw them earlier this year. The issue is they are so often sold out.

I have been eyeing a Strathberry tote for a while but now that Shinola is giving it a run for its money! Love this post, thanks! Would you consider doing something similar for jewelry?

Seconding the request for a similar post for jewelry! I’m not a fancy purse person, but I love jewelry as a milestone gift to myself.

Word of warning on the Sophie Hulme: I’ve got 2 – including the style above- and they SCRATCH LIKE CRAZY!
I believe the brand uses a very soft leather, which is not hardwearing whatsoever.

I’ve own the ALLSAINTS backpacksince August and I’ve used it every single day. It’s perfect! The inside is a little bit of a black hole, but I keep my must have items in the included zip pouch and it’s fine.
