The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire. — Richard M. Nixon

Tilted. Stop telling women to lean in, and start telling men to lean out.

Sheathed. This Donna Morgan berry-colored sheath is a fantastic work look.

Reflected. What is social media doing to our outward and inward selves?

Decided. Trying to choose between this chic belted camel coat and this ivory Olivia Pope throwback.

Switched. Need a career change? How to go from start to finish in six months.

Adorned. These pearl drop earrings are showstoppers.

Enlightened. The best advice that people ever received from a therapist.

Revived. Do you miss Limited?  It’s available at Belk.  Don’t miss this faux leather skirt in pine green.

Played. Women’s time is seen as less valuable than men’s, and how we change it.

Suited. This bordeaux skirt suit is an amazing color for fall (and <$100).

Does it ever feel like you’re having the same six meals on repeat?

To switch it up, I’ve found that it’s easier to change a side dish than it is a main dish.  So this Roasted Sweet Potato, Pear, and Onion dish just made its way into my recipe box (aka: Pinterest).  It looks warm and rustic, everything a fall meal should be.

So if you have a side dish recipe to share, leave it in the comments.  I can’t wait to thumb through them.

Those sweet potatoes look amazing. This is a summer side but Peach, Mozzarella & Basil Salad is a hit at my house and different from what I normally put together. https://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/peach-mozzarella-basil-salad

This Parmesan spaghetti squash mash is SO good. Mimics the role of polenta or grits.

I also loved the defined dish; it’s become my go-to for almost everything.

Great N.Y. times article, thanks for sharing. Really insightful and articulated feelings I’ve had but never fully formed.

Bought the green skirt because (1) green is the only color I add to my otherwise neutral wardrobe and (2) I can now recreate one of my favorite Meghan Markle looks. Would love other suggestions for how to incorporate the skirt into different outfits!

My husband and I love this side dish with easy ingredients and great flavor that you can really pair with any protein: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/recipe-roasted-carrots-and-shallots-with-chermoula-from-americas-test-kitchen/#

I’m seriously resonating with three of these articles today. I love your blog and read it every day but damn, this was an excellent article roundup post.

Sure wish that quote had come from anyone but Nixon… it’s an excellent quote, but given what happened, lordy…

Thank you SO MUCH for the article on switching careers. I picked up “Pivot” a month or two ago and it’s been slow going, since a lot of the advice and examples seem to focus on people with high profiles or 10+ years of experience under their belt making executive pivots, rather than a young-ish professional trying to break out of the administrative track before she’s pigeonholed & making 40k for the rest of her life.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
