I never knew whether to pity or congratulate a man on coming to his senses. — William Makepeace Thackery

Correction. Buy this stamp and put Harriet Tubman in her proper place.

Adorned. Earrings for work.  Earrings for weekend.

Chilled. Why cold offices negatively impact women.

Afforded. These NYDJ trousers are great for work, also in plus.

Called Out. What to do about that awful parent at your kid’s game.

Animalistic. These Boden sandals seamlessly blend leopard with gold.

Calming. Dealing with job search depression.

Arrayed. Nordstrom Rack has dresses under-$40. I love this cool dress.

Conserved. Keep your guacamole green and fresh with this unexpected tip.

Applied. The perfect bronzy highlighter for glowing summer skin.

Clipped. How to focus when you’re interrupted at work.

Appear. This Land’s End swim-tee is perfect for covering up, but staying cute.

Carpe Diem. Why are we so obsesses with being spontaneous?

I love peanut sauce.  I’d eat it on anything.  So this Thai Chicken Salad is the perfect quick lunch for summertime.  I swap the red peppers for a mix of yellow bell pepper and jalapeño.  It’s a sweeter and spicier option.

Making a lot of salad necessitates Tupperware.  These Glasslock containers are best.  I also like these OXO pop-up containers.

As a sufferer of hyperhidrosis, I disagree with the cold office article. A cooler office environment is a lifesaver for me. You can always add a layer or two if you’re feeling chilly, but if you’re getting overheated, you cannot do a whole lot.

    • Suzanne says:

I hear this all the time, but it’s not as easy as just adding an additional layer and all is good. The cold will often affect my fingers, my head, my sinuses What do you want me to do? Wear gloves and a hat at my desk/. I could just as well argue that you could get a fan or a cooling towel or drink ice cold water. Why not maintain a moderate temperature so that nobody is particularly inconvenienced?

      • Anna says:

Oof, yeah. I’ve tried typing with gloves…doesn’t really work. I also constantly have a runny nose when it’s chilly, but it’s so much more uncomfortable when the air is cold enough to hurt my nostrils.

  2. Denise says:

+1 for NYDJ trousers for work. These have made me actually want to wear pants to work (I’m typically a dress person, since trousers can be so crazy uncomfortable). They are slimming and amazingly professional, and are machine washable! I wear them weekly and they still look as good as they did when I got them on Christmas Day!

  3. Clare C Salfen says:

Can’t get on board w the office temperature article. I work in a law office with a business causal dress code. women have the option to wear slacks, skirts or dresses with suit jackets or cardigans. Men all wear suits, socks etc and even if they take their jacket off they have to wear long sleeves underneath. It’s hotter for them already, and they have fewer options to cool off.Maybe in settings with different dress codes that make sense, but it just doesn’t seem practical for many office environments.

    • Belle says:

Yes, but what if a woman dresses as warmly as possible and is still cold? I’ve seen women resort to heating pads, gloves, blankets, etc. at some point, someone is warm or cold at someone else’s expense.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
