“The love that lasts longest is the love that is never returned.” — W. Somerset Maughm

Splitting. Should I feel bad about leaving work for a job interview?

Ruffled. This cute blouse from Treasure & Bond would look great solo or under blazers.

Busted. Some thoughts on why this economic recovery didn’t create a baby boom.

Snowed In. I finally broke down and bought these Everlane boots. My Sorels were overkill, but my feet needed to stay dry.

Indebted. Why so many Americans feel cheated by student loans.

Skinned. Loving these 5-minute face masks and this Supergoop matte sunscreen.

Coupled. Building on our discussion about what to call your significant other, an article about why millennials are adopting the word “partner.”

Capped. Blush or navy, these affordable (and fabulous) cap-toe slingback are perfect for spring.

Benevolent. A unique way to take care of a grieving friend (or just one who needs a boost).

Chirped. It’s a choco-chip cookie made with crickets. And it’s delicious.

Thoughtful. How “intentional dating” improved my dating life.

Beached. H&N has this vibrant pink and chic black swimsuit for your summer dreams.

Freshly Minted. How to survive being a freshman congressperson in D.C..

Nail polish for professional workplaces is a frequent topic of conversation on this blog.  I spotted these negative space nails (and these, and these) on Pinterest and thought that could be a subtle, yet impactful way to do something unique.  These silver tops are just a lot of fun.

Regarding the first article on leaving work for a job interview . . . by the time your organization of interest wants to meet you for an interview, you will likely meet with HR, several associates, your potential future boss, and possibly someone higher up. This is at the very least a 1/2 day and maybe longer depending on the organization’s location. They should provide the parameters of the interview and an agenda so you can plan your time – which may be a full vacation day.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
