The Edition: No. 66

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.” — Charlotte Bronte

Chosen. Why it’s impossible to be a likeable female politician.

Flattened. These $35 Express flats are my new go-to work shoe.  Hello, comfort.

Solo. I’m 36, I’ve been single for 10 years. Spoiler Alert: I’m fine.

Topped. This $98 blazer is a great semi-casual option.  I also like this longer “sweater blazer.”

Division. Man Repeller explains the difference between ‘sorry’ people and ‘thank you’ people.  (A very interesting perspective.)

Erupted. My skin is not loving being back at work, hoping this M-61 Spot Mask helps.

Truth in Advertising. Hilariously realistic rom-com titles.

Workstation. Looking for a new desk at Target, ended up with this awesome $30 desk lamp instead.

GOAT. Is Serena Williams the poster woman for unapologetic greatness?

No big post today.  Just that I am definitely making these mini-Hasselback potatoes for a football-watching potluck this weekend.  They look fancy, but they’re not difficult to make, and they taste amazing.

I really want the Hasselback potato recipe but the link brings me to the target lamp.

  2. Jo says:

Great links – I particularly liked the rom-com list, the perspective on being single and female, and the likability for female politicians. That last one was really well-written – I also liked Alexandra Petri’s humorous take on the same topic here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/opinions/wp/2018/11/16/im-fine-with-women-in-power-just-not-this-one-specific-woman-currently-in-power/?utm_term=.b11d51bbfbd1.

  3. Jill says:

Many interesting links. On sorry vs. thank you, neither really works from the person whose actions are wrong to the person wronged. Saying thank you makes the wrongdoer look virtuous somehow. Better not to commit the wrong.

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
