Holiday Party Week: Lace Blouses

Dec 20, 2018

A few weeks ago, we talked about party blouses — a top that can be worn to work, and to the party after.  Today, I wanted to show some lace blouses that can be worn with jeans, trousers or skirts.

Lace is more of an evening fabric, so they’re slightly tougher to wear to work.  But lace is a great option when you want a blouse that feels more special than your typical blouse.  Here are the ones who caught my eye.

This crochet lace blouse from Neiman Marcus Last Call ($53) is a lot of fun.  I love the different textures and the mix of patterns.

What I like about this Rachel Roy Bow Blouse ($99) is how glamorous it feels with the lace sleeves and how dramatic, yet playful, the tie back is.  A great piece.

Looking for other black options?  This 1.State blouse with a hint of lace is great.  I also love this Ganni blouse with a mix of patterns.

Laundry makes this Mesh Lace Blouse ($49) that would look very nice with a wide leg navy trouser or a ripped denim jean.  I also like the shorter sleeve for avoiding that Miss Havisham look.

Talbot’s Opulent Dot Lace Top ($149) comes in women’s and misses’ sizes.  The dots are a nice, modern texture for a lace top.  I also like that this could be worn in any season without feeling out of place.

Bardot’s Lace Bodysuit ($89) is a very sexy option for the holidays.  I would tuck it into a pair of red trousers or a red skirt and really play with the color.  The scallop trim is just such a great detail.

Looking for a red blouse more on the playful side?  Try this one from J.Crew.

I am plus-size and love this look but please tell me that I won’t look too mother-of-the-bride! I am NOT that old!

The top one from NM comes in black. The ivory one is shown with a white/ivory cami. Would you wear a black cami with the black blouse? It looks like it is shown with a nude one on the model. Ivory/ivory looks right to my eyes, but am I right in thinking that the black/nude combo would look better as black blouse/black cami?

Befuddled. The details of fashion area always tripping me up.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
