Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers, Under-$60

Dec 10, 2018

Christmas stockings > Christmas presents.  At least, I think so.  Stocking stuffers give you a chance to buy useful gifts, funny gifts, and sentimental gifts.  Proving that good things come in small packages.

Here are a handful of stocking stuffers that caught my eye.  All are under-$60, most are under-$40.

This Kodak Printomatic Camera ($59) is a fun gift for almost anyone.  They’re also just a fun item to have around for family gatherings.  It’s fun to have real photos to take home or send to relatives.  I went to a wedding a few years ago where the printed photo cameras were being passed around all night, which was really fun for the guests.

I don’t usually give fragrant things as a gift, because scent is so personal.  But Diptyque Baies ($35) is an absolute crowd pleaser with a fruity berry scent.  Know your recipient loves candles, but don’t want to take a chance on the wrong one?  This candle snuffer and wick trimmer is a good choice.

Moving into a new home, I have decorating fatigue.  (Don’t talk to me about window treatments or towel bars or rugs.) But Homebody ($24) from Joanna Gaines, of Fixer Upper fame, approaches decorating in a way that is informative and helpful, but also realistic.

Bringing a bottle of booze as a gift?  Jazz up the standard libation with a chic bottle stopper.  This Monogrammed Stopper ($19) from Nordstrom is a good option.  This $9 arrow stopper and amethyst crystal stopper are also lovely choices.

Bath items are a wonderful gift for moms, friends, and assorted relatives.  Pursoma makes a fantastic line of bath soaks ($36) that can soothe, clarify and calm.  I also love the Harper + Ari exfoliating sugar cubes.  But for a bit of affordable luxury, try a fun bath bomb.

Mistletoe is a romantic present to hide in a stocking.  It’s also a fun hostess gift to take to holiday gatherings.  I love the pretty Shabby Chic Mistletoe ($25) because it looks more modern than most of what you see in stores.

Tortoise accessories can be worn with almost any wardrobe, by women of any style.  They just go with everything.  This Jaya bangle ($29) is the kind of piece you will wear all the time.  These tortoise and gold hoops from Baublebar are another good choice.

Don’t know what to buy?  Try tortoise hair clips, like these small Francesca barrettes or this $4 Scunci clip.

A lump of coal.  Always good for a laugh.  And when it comes in a pretty package like this one from Target ($10), a pretty gift as well.  (Don’t think this is a good gift?  I still have the lump of coal my brother bought for me in 1999.  Because it’s a little funny, and a little sentimental.)

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Baies is a berry scent? To me it smells very strongly floral with almost no berry.

I have had people tell me that the floral in this is what they smell. But I do catch the berry scent myself. I probably should have just posted a lemon or grapefruit which is lighter.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
