BPGP: Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Mask

Aug 16, 2018

Summer weather got you feeling a bit oily?  Me too.  But thanks to this new mask, my skin is less oily, clearer, softer and brighter.

For years, I’ve used the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask to detox my skin and clear out my pores.  It clears existing acne well, but it doesn’t do much to control the summertime oil slick.  So on a particularly hot, hazy summer day, I went looking for another option.

I have long loved Ole Henriksen products.  The brand specializes in mixing natural ingredients with science to create great products, free of harmful chemicals.  And the Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge mask is another fantastic product in their line.

First, the product is amazingly refreshing.  You apply it to your skin, wait a few minutes, and then mix with water to lather off.  No chiseling or scrubbing like some masks that harden when they dry, making it better for sensitive skin.

Second, when you rinse off the product, your skin feels amazingly soft.  Your pores look smaller.  Rough patches look a bit smoother.  And the oil slick is gone.  I was quite surprised at the first time results.

Keep using the product every two to three days and there will be a noticeable difference in your skin.  The folds of my nose are always full of little whiteheads caused by excess oil production.  After two weeks of using the mask, there are far fewer.

Also, the cooling effect of the mask is really nice after you get home from a long commute.  I walked home last week, and actually put this on before I showered.  It felt amazing.

Last, let me acknowledge that, yes, at $36, this mask is not cheap.  But, it will last you forever.  When the directions say, “apply a thin layer,” they really mean it.  You want to apply just enough to cover the skin, but still see the skin through it.  If you look like a member of the Blue Man group, you’ve applied too much.

The light application allows for easy removal, but also makes the product last.  I’ve been using the same travel size tube twice a week for three weeks, and there is still a good amount in it.

Other Ole Henriksen products that I love: Their Truth Serum gives my skin a boost of Vitamin C and Collagen each morning (available in travel size for skeptics), and their Invigorating Night Transformation Gel, which is one of the top three skincare products that I’ve ever used.  It has glycol and lactic acid and is the thing for wrinkles and dark spots.

Have you ever done the Aztec Secrets Mask? I do it weekly with Apple Cider Vinegar and I think you would like it.

I also love Ole Henrikson products. I LOVE both their power peel and the vitamin c peel. I already have a sampled the cool plunge mask and now I’m excited to try it!

I think the headline and URL have a typo – cold plasma mask?

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
