The Edition: No. 30

Mar 30, 2018

“If you haven’t got anything nice to say about anybody, come sit next to me.” — Alice Roosevelt Longworth

“I can be President of the United States, or I can control Alice. I cannot possibly do both.” — her father, Pres. Theodore Roosevelt

Bounce Back. How to recover from a work mistake.

Springy. This flared, kelly green dress is perfect for spring. And just $69.

Getaway. Another blogger took a trip to Orcas Island that looks positively dreamy.  My grandparents had a store on the island when I was younger, so her post has me feeling a bit nostalgic.

Just Beachy. Target is offering swimwear on a buy one, get one 50% off.  I love the ties on this flirty bikini, and the details on this chic one piece.

Speak Up. Perfecting the art of saying ‘no’ to anything, everything.

Shirt Up. This classic Eileen Fisher shirtdress is a steal.  I also like this floral H&M and this tie-front MaxStudio dress, both under-$50.

Vogue. This is 40 — and pregnant.

Sassy. This ColourPop Lip Kit looks amazing.  Great colors.

Whips and Chains. Is a dominatrix the ideal mentor for female lawyers?

Collabs. Marimekko for Uniqlo has some fun pieces. I really like this dotted top and this short-sleeve printed dress.

For a Change. Instead of a ’30 under 30′ — a power list for women over over 50.

My fitness routine hit a wall in January.  I got sick.  I got injured.  I got sick, again.  I hurt my back.  It was an endless cycle.  Friday Fit Club?  Ha!  Try Sit on Couch and Mope Club.  But no more.

Next week, I’m starting Farm Girl Fit at Home.  FGF is an amazing business.  Started by two friends with a passion on for fitness, FGF has cult-like status in my community (similar to SoulCycle or Solidcore).  They’re offering a 12-week program you can do at home, 4-6 times per week for 30 minutes a day. And until midnight tonight (Friday) you can save 20% with code SHARETHELOVE.  So come work out with me!

Thank you so much for the Vogue article. I needed that today.

Me too. The whole biological clock thing has been weighing on me recently.

      • LS says:

Me three. After not finding anyone in my 20s, I’ve fallen madly in love with a man 9 years younger. Neither of us are in the must-have-kids camp, but I definitely felt a certain degree of fear about having them after 35 before reading this.

      • Laura says:

I met my husband at 34, married at 37, and got pregnant earlier this year at 38 after a week of trying. All of my doctors are like “eh, perhaps since you mentioned it, the risks are ever so slightly higher, but don’t worry about it.” I feel like we’re inundated with horror stories about fertility over the age of, oh, 18, so I think it helps to reinforce that it isn’t always a struggle. (Not to discount anyone’s experience who has struggled, of course.)

  2. Sm says:

Love the article about saying “No” and different ways to do it. As I get older, I get better and better at this skill 😉

  3. Sarah says:

Where is that fitness photo from?

  4. Lindsey says:

My husband and I needed to get moving, somehow. In January, we started working out with the app Daily Burn. I just had a baby in August so needed to start slow. We began the True Beginner program on the app and it was perfect. Short workouts, challenging but manageable. Just over a month ago we flipped to their 365 program. They release a new 30 minute workout every day at 9am ET. Then they archive the video, so we’re usually doing the day before’s workout each morning. We’ve been working out 5-7 days a week since January, words I never thought I’d say. The videos are different every day with various trainers, exercises, focus, pace, etc. We’ve both really noticed a difference in our ability and body! I highly recommend it. And best part, you can do it anywhere anytime.

Thank you for the power list of women over 50. What incredible things these women are doing!

Happy Hour: Atlantic Beach Pie

There are two kinds of people in this world: People who eat cake on their birthdays and people who don’t.  And some of the weirdos in the latter category (I said what I said) eat pie as an alternative.  So if you’re a “birthday pie” eater with a late summer celebration coming up, may I […]

The Find: Bright and Striped

For the past few years, the wardrobes of many influencers have tilted toward the beige and boring.  I’m all for a good basic, but staple pieces can only take you so far.  Sometimes, you need to wear something that has a little something extra, and this sale-priced tee certainly does.
