Amazon Addict: Because I Can

Nov 8, 2017

I order a lot of stuff from Amazon.  Why?  Because I can.  Prime makes ordering any little thing that pops into my cart way to easy.  But sometimes, those little purchases turn out to be BIG wins.  Here are the items I bought from Amazon last month and cannot live without.

Walking the marble halls in search of meaningful employment (#careergoals) is a grind.  The blisters coating the back of each heel as I break in my new pumps is worse.  Luckily, these Heel Grip Pads ($7 for 2) make it a bit more bearable.

Dear Amazon, I don’t know what Dark Wizard you have reading my thoughts, but the little button you sent me that magically mails me Surprise candies, cookies and cakes when I push it is too close to my subconscious for comfort.  Also, it died today when I backed over it with my Jeep.  Drastic action had to be taken, as self-control was fleeting.

Last month, K helpfully informed me that the dryer was broken because it took three runs to dry a set of towels.  The Amazing Google Machine said it was likely a build-up of dryer lint in the venting.  One $18 brush later, and my dryer runs good as new.

I like to handwrite notes on my giant iPhone 8 Plus, but using your finger doesn’t work so well.  But this Mixoo stylus does.  I also use it to doodle when I’m bored.

My eyes have been really puffy when I wake up in the mornin for the past few weeks.  I bought this Jade Roller to help soothe and de-puff.  I keep it in the fridge so it’s nice and cold when I use it.  I think it’s helping, but even if it’s not, it feels so relaxing when you use it.

My best friend from college is Harry Potter obsessed, so I picked up this Butterbeer scented candle for him.  It’s a little pricey at $28, but come on, it says Lumos.  In case you needed more Dumbledore nostalgia in your life.

Ok this list is awesome. I’m buying the lint remove and candles for stocking stuffers!!!

  2. PSP says:

Don’t forget if you start your purchases by going to smile.amazon.com (instead of amazon.com), you can select a charity that a portion of your proceeds goes to. A little frustrating because you can’t do it through the app, but ultimately worth it.

That Sweet box is ingenious but a terrible find for my eating habits.

  4. E says:

As a Primer user myself I think this is a GREAT idea! There are so many odd items I end up buying on Prime. I’d love to hear about good things other people pick up.

This is a fun post – thanks for sharing! I’m too tempted by that Sweets button…

I love this post and would be happy to see it as a regular feature. Amazon has so much good stuff, but digging through it can be a slog.

    Great post!

For years I’ve cleaned the lint out of my blow dryer, usually using a bobby or safety pin. A few weeks ago I realized it needed to be cleaned again. I just happened to have an eyebrow pencil within reach. After a few attempts to remove the lint I turned the pencil over and used the “spoolie”. This worked like magic, took half the time & made my blow dryer work as good as it did when it was brand new. Give it a try, I think you’ll agree.

  9. Mel says:

Abra, have you tried any of the Amazon fashion lines? I am on the fence about some of them and I would love to hear your opinion.

I have. I ordered some things from Lark & Ro. Quality is Zara, maybe a hint better. If you really like a piece, give it a try.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
