Morning Line: Two Great Summer Sales

Jun 24, 2015

As we move into July, retailers will offer deep discounts to try to clear out their closets before the fall fashions arrive in August.  This week, there are two sales that are not to be missed.

Marc Jacobs Bubble Earrings ($34) // Kenneth Jay Lane Bangle ($45) // Rebecca Minkoff Phoenix Ring ($48)

Shopbop is offering 25% off sale items with code 25MORE.  There are hundreds of items in the sale from fun party dresses to chic denim jeans.

I always find the best sale items in three departments: jewelry, intimates, and handbags.  The three jewelry pieces above are all chic, versatile, and wonderfully priced.  I would wear that simple bangle all the time, and the earrings are a great alternative to big hoops.

Levi’s Lightweight Hooded Jacket ($99) // BCBG Adele Wrap Dress ($118) // Halogen 3/4-sleeve Sweater ($36)

Nordstrom is having a summer clearance sale offering up to 40%-off men’s, women’s, and kids.  There are so many great items.  I recommend narrowing your search by size and price point, because looking at it all at once could be a bit overwhelming.

This olive cargo jacket is perfect for chilly summer nights, but can also be worn in spring and fall.  The wrap dress offers a cool pattern in a neutral palette.  And this Halogen sweater (also in petite) comes in several cool colors and prints.

I also adore this eyelet cotton dress from Adrianna Papell and this striped halter maxi from Caslon.  I would also cruise through the jewelry and accessories.  And don’t miss the workout clothes for discounts on replacement pieces.

And since this is a department store, there’s a healthy selection of petite and plus-size items as well.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Saw It On Social: The Battle of the Spendy Swimsuits

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
