1) 16-year-old Ethan Crouch caused a drunk driving accident that killed several people. At his trial, a psychologist used the term ‘affluenza’ to explain why his privileged upbringing made him unable to understand consequences.

2) This hammered-gold cuff from Kenneth Jay Lane will go with everything.  This Tanya Creations bangle has a similar look for under-$10.

3) “Why I Don’t Want My Daughter to Go to Harvard.”

4) I need a new cell phone case.  I’m trying to decide between this inexpensive folio case and this chic, gold-accented case from Zero Gravity.

5) Business Insider offers tips on winning arguments inside the workplace and outside of it.

6) Neiman Marcus is having a first-call sale.  This watermelon-colored Badgley Mischka dress with a high neck is a great work dress.  I also like this side-ruched Lafayette dress in royal blue.

7) If you need an emotional pick-me-up, this video from Pedigree shows the importance of second chances for dogs and humans.

8) Suffer from sparse brows or brows that are too light?  This product from Chohsungah 22 may be your eyebrow savior.

  1. Monica says:

#1 is such a tragedy, I remember hearing about this case when the judgement was first handed down, and if I had been one of the grieving families I think it would have pushed me over the edge. Unfortunately, the boy going to prison would not have brought those loved ones back, and it sounds like there were more lives ruined by that accident than previously thought.

#3 is refreshing to hear. I’m glad not everyone gives in to the ‘Tiger Mother’ line of thinking that we have to push push push our kids and check off the boxes or they won’t be ‘successful’. People have to find their own way, even your own kids.

#3- Mills College! My alma mater! http://www.mills.edu

  3. Kirstin says:

    As a college professor, I endorse #3!

  4. Tara says:

I am now 100% addicted to the Ethan Couch story… how did I miss this?

  5. Spiritmom says:

As a Texan and a mother to 3 hard-working teenage boys, the Ethan Couch story makes my blood boil. His parents are pathetic but ETHAN AND ETHAN ALONE is responsible for his terrible choices.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
