Plus-size: Ralph Lauren Stretch Pencil Skirt ($50) Petite: Ann Taylor Faux-Leather Pencil Skirt ($109, also in misses)
Any thoughts on where to find a similar skirt in a cognac color, hopefully under $50? Thanks for any advice!

I’m intrigued by the leather pencil skirt look. I’m curious, of those of you who’ve worn them, are they comfy? I have this feeling like they might be tight or restricting when walking.
If it fits well it is very comfortable. My leather skirt is one of my most comfortable because it has stretched slightly (think of it like wearing in shoes, it will follow your shape). I always get compliments on it and wear it like a black pencil skirt. If you live in a colder area it keeps you warmer as well.
Belle, are you sure these are office appropriate? Leather to me seems a little racy, and I definitely don’t consider myself a conservative person/dresser at all. I know it’s a big trend, but it just seems a bit much.
Depends on the office, and how you wear it. Treat it like a regular black pencil skirt and pair it with conservative separates.
I have the Banana Republic skirt and wear it to work at a law firm. I’ve received compliments on it and have never gotten a questioning look. I wear it with a blue button down shirt or a loose sweater, dark nylons and black suede pumps. As long as it isn’t skin tight, short, or shiny, and you’re not wearing black leather head-to-toe, I think it’s fine.
