1) 12 Weekend Habits of Highly Successful People.

2) My Wardrobe, a European site for designer fashions, is having their seasonal sale.  So many beautiful things.  15%-off Sophie Hulme bags sounds good to me.  Or if you just need a bit of Friday-afternoon eye-candy, their selection of work dresses is not to be missed.

3) This week in sizing controversies, Calvin Klein’s new ads feature a model who wear size 10, but some are upset that the fashion industry considers her plus-sized.  And Old Navy shoppers are petitioning the retailer to change the pricing structure that places an up-charge on women’s plus-size clothing but not on larger men’s items.

4) I am loving Lipstick Queen’s sheer Medieval Red Lipstick.  If you have a hard time finding reds, give this one a try.

5) My Mother has an enormous Southern family, and sometimes it’s hard to know how to refer to all of my cousins.  Fast Company sorts out the complicated math of Third Cousins Twice Removed.

6) Piperlime is offering 20%-0ff select designers, today only.  My favorite Paige Skyline Skinny Jeans are part of the sale.  This Ella Moss sweater also caught my eye; I love the mix of textures.  This semi-sheer, lace skirt is also a great choice for holiday parties.

7) Can’t live without your morning coffee?  Smithsonian Magazine reports that Europeans thought coffee was a tool of the devil until the Pope became a fan.

8) Did you know H&M carries home goods?  The throws–especially this ivory and grey plaid and this grey and pale aqua.  The gold-printed, ceramic jar would make a great stocking stuffer.

9) Buzzfeed has 37 Ikea hacks for organizing your life.

10) Last Call is offering 40%-off one item.  May I suggest this Lafayette 148 jacket or these dotted snakeskin pumps?

11) I love stories about how famous people go their start, so this article featuring 50 pre-fame performances by well-known actors is a lot of fun.

12) Gap is my go-to source for casual sweaters.  This colorful Fair Isle sweater is cute.  I also like this cable knit sweater in nine colors.  This basic Merino crewneck is just $35 and  comes in a myriad of colors.

  1. I loved the piece on coffee. It’s also interesting to me that books were considered evil for a good amount of time in European history.

    Hi Belle!

I saw this article about the end of the Nordstrom half yearly sales and thought you might want to pass the information on to your readers. Love the Blog!

The My-Wardrobe links are not working

  4. […] Lots of retailers offer plus sizes on their websites only, but it turns out Old Navy has several other discriminatory practices, including up-charging for plus-sized jeans for women but charging the same price for men regardless of size. (Via Capitol Hill Style) […]

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
