Petit Bateau Lamurien Sweater ($140)

Yesterday, we talked about my tips for shopping sales, and it’s a good thing that we did because the Shopbop Friends and Family sale starts today.  They’re offering 25%-off with code FAMILY25.  You can also use Amazon Prime to get free two-day shipping, and don’t miss out on 3.0% cash back with Ebates.  Now, for my picks…

***

Sweaters and Coats. Since it’s almost sweater weather, I think this orange pullover adds a certain zest to chilly fall days.  This Madewell cabled pullover ($98) is a wonderful basic.  And this Bop Basics sweater in a warm oatmeal looks impossibly cozy.

This Blank Denim cowl-neck jacket is a great buy for under-$100 (perfect for the plane).  I also love this $80 BB Dakota sweater jacket with faux-leather trim.

Dresses. Want dresses?  Two of my very favorite frocks are part of the sale: the Black Halo 3/4-sleeve Jackie dress (four colors) and the DvF Julian Two Wrap.  I also love this navy Karen Zambos dress, which will be under-$150 with the code.

Shoes. These $136 Bette pumps are sleek, simple and sexy.  These Dolce Vita ankle-strap flats are fabulous.  Need simple boots?  These Sam Edelman riding boots are under-$175 with the promo.

Bags and Accessories. How much so I love this Linea Pelle bag with croc-embossed leather? A lot.  A whole lot.  This Rebecca Minkoff wallet with flat studs is utterly chic.   And this Madewell transport tote is the ideal shopper.

Shopbop always has the best earrings.  These under-$50 Labradorite studs are a must, and these Minkoff triangle hoops are one of the best pairs in my jewelry box.

One Last Thing…Need a winter coat?  Like a crazy warm parka that’s meant to withstand Arctic expeditions?  Canada Goose all the way. (Sadly, Canada Goose is excluded from this sale. Ugh. But my endorsement stands regardless.  Sometimes you can pick them up on eBay for less. )

I don’t know if this is just my computer, but the only post I saw from yesterday was the zipper sweater. Did you post another item?

    Thanks!

  2. EHF says:

Thanks for the heads up about the sale…just scored some boots!

Just a quick comment–there are some exclusions (like Canada Goose, unfortunately!) so if you wanted to buy some Versace, you’re out of luck.

    • Belle says:

Yeah, sorry about that. They posted the details at 8AM ET and I wrote the post last night, I didn’t think I’d picked anything that would be excluded, but I was wrong. Fine print, always a bummer.

  3. Joules says:

I’ve never looked at Canada Goose before, but now it seems perfect for the Chicago winter. Hm, but it’s still a bit pricey. Decisions decisions.

    • Jenna says:

Canada Goose is excluded from the promo. If this is truly an income source and a “job” for you, it would be helpful if you did a minute of work and checked the fine print on the coupon code.

      • CD says:

If you read the fine print of the post, Belle cites the coupon code, Amazon Prime and eBates as 3 potential ways to save $ on the items.

      • e says:

This is unnecessarily hostile. If it only took a minute to figure it out yourself, what’s the big deal?

      • Anna says:

Sheesh, take a chill pill. Belle is usually pretty good about noting things that are or aren’t included in sales. This might be an income source, but she’s also a busy law student. Just noting the oversight is enough. No need to get snippy.

      • LS says:

Like us, Belle is human and sometimes makes mistakes. Pointing it out politely would be the grown-up thing to do.

      • Belle says:

The promo code wasn’t released until 8:00AM. I knew it would be coming, but not the details, so I didn’t know what would be excluded. Canada Goose wasn’t excluded from the last sale, which is when I bought my coat, so I didn’t think it would be excluded from this one.

This is not my “job.” Law school is my job. This is still an extracurricular for me, even though I do earn money from it. The day I start thinking about this blog as my job, a thing I have to do to make money, is the day I close up shop.

      • (Another) Jenna says:

I wish I could be as perfect as you who must never make a mistake, right?

    • Megan says:

      Joules-

For the LOVE of all things good, PLEASE stop leaving superficial comments on every post in efforts to promote your blog.

  4. Anna says:

No sales post for me, here or on feedly

  5. Love a great Shopbop sale! already splurged on a coat and a new pair of jeans. 🙂

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
