State of the Blog: You Did What?!?!

Sep 23, 2014

Ladies,

I’m currently posting from my iPhone.  Why?  Because I dropped my laptop.  On a marble floor.  Corner first.

I screamed.  Loudly.  I’m still screaming in my head.

I’m going to pick up a new one at the Apple Store tomorrow before I leave D.C.. God bless, Apple Care.  But before I call it quits, I want to direct you to an amazing pair of shoes that has saved my feet over the past two days.

Aldo Favischio Ankle Boots ($130)

These Aldo ankle boots have an under-3″ heel (the best), the arch is neither too high, nor too low, and a rubber sole, which is like a shock absorber for your feet.  I love them.  If you need black, they also come in a black leather with a black heel.

Need a cheaper option?  These H&M booties have a small platform for added comfort.  For a more office appropriate look, H&M also has you covered with these $40 pointed-toe booties.

See you tomorrow!  xo, Belle

Do you have any advice for wearing ankle boots/boots in general with skirts and NOT looking ridiculous? I don’t wear skirts above the knee or pants for religious/cultural reasons and I feel like wearing a longer skirt with ankle boots just looks weird.

  2. Spilled Lemsip on mine last week – too upsetting! Posting from my iPad mini!

  3. Mandi says:

DId you pair these with jeans? If so, I’m curious to know how you styled them (straight, skinny, cuffed, tucked, etc).

Sorry to hear about your laptop! Hope that your wait at Apple isn’t terribly long.

Ok, I think you may have just ended my bootie search right here. Love these!

Very sorry to hear about your laptop! I echo a couple of these comments – love these, but am perplexed how to wear brown ankle boots/booties with a skirt. Black is no problem – pair with black leggings, but brown/cognac seems much more challenging. Suggestions? Thanks for your wonderful blog!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
